I am getting ready to drop the pan and replace the filter inside the allison and has a couple questions. Can the gasket on the pan be reused? Does the old filter come out pretty easy, and new just push back in? Thanks

Pan gaskest is reusable. Filter comes out easy but make sure you remove old seal from case ( orange in color ). If you have a deep pan you will need a deep filter. Put new and old filter side by side so you don't make a mistake.

Only need to change the internal at time of overhaul. Yes it comes out easy, make sure you get that hard rubber o ring seal deal outa the trans though, that may be a BIATCH. pan gasket is reusable. New one goes right in. When you pull the filter it will start peeing on you again even though you think all is drained out. ATF also tastes like chicken:drinking::drool:

I only have 55k on the truck right now but do lots of towing. I have heard that it is a good thing to change at 50k or so. Overkill? Thanks

Spin filter should be taking care of it. Overkill yes IMO but also probably falls into the cheap insurance category that it couldnt hurt even though I dont think it will do much. I might be apt to change to a deep pan. Good time too.

Drain pan.......and remove spin-on filter........ clean magnet in pan....... if it's REALLY, really bad then change the filter and if not, wipe down and install pan......... place Mobil-1 Dextron in and go. The Mobil will reduce your temps and will not breakdown quite as fast as regular D-III.
