May seem arcane, but any input on "good" or recommended lug nuts and wheel locks guys?

I've heard of Gorilla and McGuard. Any thoughts or experiences on what works?

Using "Gorilla" brand my my rig. Looks good and holds tight.

I have given up on locking lug nuts; with the stuff you can buy at Sears just to remove stripped nuts and bolts you can remove the locking lug nuts in under 10 seconds per wheel with a cordless impact. I broke a lock last year on one of my wheels and had it off in under 2 seconds--took longer to find the cordless than it did to remove the lock. My current opinion, save your money!

Gorilla nuts. They hold up well. Anything can be had with enough determination, but usually if you make it a PITA, a would be theif will move on. If you are investing in an expensive set of wheels, a good set of lug nuts with locks is a must.

The problem is that with the readily available tools on the market and how cheap they are at that, nothing is a PITA to a thief anymore. I'm a good guy, and I bet I would have the wheels off your truck in under 90 seconds and gone before you can even respond to a theft page on your alarm system. It's just a sad state of the way things are now . . .

Let me ask you this. Where do you keep the wheel lock? Yep, in the glove box. So, if a thief wants your tires and rims and see's locks he will first break into your vehicle and look for it. If he doesn't find the lock he will remove the tires and wheels anyways.

As I said, you can't stop determination, but perhaps you can slow it down long enough to be able to take a good aim! ):h

Ahh, screw it! Weld 'em on and be done with it!):h

For me, I've had crappy lugs before that start to rust after you tighten 'em the first time. The Gorillas don't do that. Is it worth it for the locks? Up to you. Is it worth it to have lug nuts that compliment your wheel investment? It is to me. The locks are just a bonus.

It all depends on where you live (state). More bad guys in CA, I think. They wont just break in and find your wheel lock....easier to just steal the whole truck....if you didnt have an alarm. More things to make the bad guys move on the better. Hate for someone to mess with my rig.... I have something waiting for them. :D

I am running these on mine:

M14 x 1.5 8 Lug kit w/ wheel locks Chrome 1" 1 Kit 65810

The spline drive nuts are the way to go IMHO. I am very happy with them on my truck and hold up way better than the cheapies. As much as I am swapping out to run the slicks at the track they are worth the extra cash. Mcgard has a good writeup on the spline drive benefits.

Have any of you had experience with the colored lug nuts?

First time I've seen these. THey look anodized but I don't see how that'd ever hold up to a single run through with an impact.

THe page says they're "chrome plated" but can you do chrome plating in colors besides, well, chrome?
