Hey guys I just received some filters that I bought off of Ebay. I have a concern that the filter(s) may be used. I bought 2 oil filters 1 fuel filter and 1 genuine Allison tranny filter. I noticed that on the o-ring on both oil filters and on the tranny filter the white powder that is usually present was not there. Not sure what this stuff is for but I have seen it on all the filters I have changed in the past. There was also a light oil residue on the motor oil filters. Needless to say that got my attention. Upon closer inspection I did a visual on the inside (what I could see of it) of the tranny filter and noticed that the filter paper was red and had a vague smell of tranny oil.
Can anyone check out a new in the box Allison filter and tell me if the filter media is red too?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Marco.

Ok, filter paper in the tranny filter is red, mine is and my filters are definitely not used. My oil filters are not used either. On both of them I did notice the slightest bit of what you could call a white residue, but i think its nothing.

I am probably just get excited for nothing, then again I shelled out $50 for these things.
My oil filters dont have the white powder, thats what cought my attention.
Maybe Ill just go buy two new filters at Kragen then return these. Just kidding, good idea though.
Marco.
