: cannot reset taps
camcojb 07-01-2008, 07:21 PM can't figure this out. I have the new 7.5.4 update and hook up the scan tool, connect to vehicle, start the DVT, pick the LMM trans controller, and clear the top three adapts. It says they're cleared but the trans shifts exactly the same.
When I had the built trans done Mike L reset the taps with a Tech II so I know what it's like when they're reset. So either they are not resetting for some reason, or else the trans learns so well that there is not a hint of a change after resetting.............. http://forum.efilive.com/images/smilies/confused.gif
Any ideas?

POLARIS_600cc 07-01-2008, 07:56 PM When I want it to go into fast learn, I click the top 3 clear tap cells, then the very top right button "preset all tap cells" after the 3 are cleared. I have not tried it with the new 7.5.4 but it worked on my BBL updated 7.5.3 and I thought that was the same DVT controls as 7.5.4

thanks. I do not have a "preset all tap cells" button with the LMM 6 speed, or at least can't find it. I'll keep playing with it.

POLARIS_600cc 07-01-2008, 08:26 PM Hmmm, when I go to the drop down menu to activate the dvt I choose LBZ/LMM Allison. So you should have the same controller as the 6spd behind my LBZ, the tunes will be different OS but I don't think that should conflict with the DVT's. I'm not callin you a liar about not havin the button, just curious now as to why you wouldn't.
FYI on my alli DVT the adapts "tab" has four buttons on the top row, the three clear adapt buttons starting on the left, then the last one is the preset button.
Edit: I looked at the 7.5.4 scan tool under LBZ/LMM allison TCM and mine is the same as it was with the updated 7.5.3, although I have not tried clearing and reseting the taps on my truck with the 7.5.4 software.

only three on the top row:
beach_33 07-01-2008, 08:49 PM this is the same as mine but i havent tred to reset with the new 7.5.4 version yet. i do have it downloaded. the best way to do it is when you are flashing a new tune in up in the top left corner there is a tab that says taps. click on this tab and it will say reset taps after flash.select this and flash tune
POLARIS_600cc 07-01-2008, 08:52 PM Hey, I think I got it figured out. This is how the update for 7.5.3 first looked, and it did not work to reset the trans, just like your experiencing. There was an updated file we had to download and add in to a folder which made the fourth button, and worked to reset the trans. Problem is I don't remeber what the file is called or where to find it. I also don't remember if the file was posted on here or the efilive forums. Guess I'm not much help lol.........I will do some searchin and see if I can find it for you. It must have been a configuration file because I saved the whole folder "efilive" in my documents and pasted that over the new one that came with 7.5.4 so I wouldn't lose my dashpages and tunes.

that has never worked for me with 7.5.3. But, I have not tried it with the new 7.5.4.

POLARIS_600cc 07-01-2008, 08:59 PM Now hopefully cindy sees this thread, I would think that file should be part of the 7.5.4 software, not an "add on"

thanks. I actually had downloaded this already, but it says to save it in config, and I can't find a config folder. I saved it in user config, which obviously doesn't work.
Gonna have to find config I guess, but I just looked again under 7.5 and there is no such file.

camcojb 07-01-2008, 09:22 PM ok, just remembered there's also a 7.5 file in programs as well as document files, and that has config. Just moved it there, will try it in a bit. Shows four boxes now.
Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

POLARIS_600cc 07-01-2008, 09:26 PM i have windows xp, clicked my comp, c drive, program files, efilive, v7.5, and thats where the configuration folder is. the file allb.dvt is saved in my config folder. Not sure how this made it through the update to 7.5.4
POLARIS_600cc 07-01-2008, 09:27 PM sounds like you got it figured out while i was posting my screenshot. Good luck and glad I could help.

I've just read this, and you are right. The 4th button missed the release version.
If you follow the link provided earlier http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=7967 and install that file under EFILive/7.5/Configuration and replace the existing file, you'll get the 4th icon.
An auto update will be released within the next couple of weeks.
Cheers

that's what I did Cindy. I just forgot that EFI Live loads in two places; I always use the documents and settings directory, but it's also in program files. The documents and settings one does not have a config file.
