The brake switch on my truck has two of the wires broke or cut off. I did a search but can't find anything about it. Could someone list out what each wire does and why those two may be cut (maybe just broke)? Looking at the switch as it is attached to the pedal it is the bottom two wires that aren't connected.

Also my cruise control doesn't work. Maybe this is why? I checked the fuse on the cruise control, it's fine. also the parking brake switch is in working order.

Thanks,
Tyler

you must have a remote start installed. i see this at work all the time. some one wired into the brake wire for a remote start and tywraped the wiring going to the pedal. the brake light switch moves with the pedal. check and see. the wire colour should still be visable if you unplug the connector and open it. i always put new pins on the wires and install them in the connector. cut the tywrap. yes the wiring to the brake switch is why the cruise does not work. sould take 10 min to repair

Thanks! Also the stupid passlock security light is on all the time. Could this be why? It's on solid all the time and has no affect on the truck. The truck does not have a remote start. Well when I bought it I wasn't told about one and don't need or want one. Is there anything aside from pulling the bulb I can do to get that damned light to go out?

I know on older trucks (pre 1999) when the brake light switch fails it will cause your transmission to cycle in and out of lock-up creating an RPM surge that would not allow you to run cruise control. I know this because I spent $2000 trying to fix a problem, the surging, that was fixed with a $15 part, the brake light switch. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help guys. I fixed both my problems last night. Reconnected the wires on the brake switch and now my cruise is back!

Tore the whole steering column apart looking for signs of a remote start but everything was stock and in good working order. So I took apart the gauges and busted out the offending L.E.D. :D
