: There's no place to rest my arms!
QwkTrip 06-29-2008, 01:28 AM I have a 2002 crew cab with the full center console up front. I took it on the freeway a few days ago and found I had no good place to rest either arm. What have you done to make it better?
Left arm: The door arm rest is too low. The top of the door panel it too narrow. Right arm: The chair arm rest is too low and close to my body. The center console is too low.
I really liked my F250 with the center seat back rest that folded down. Perfect height. And the door panel had two tiers with wide places to rest your arm. It also had a 6 speed manual which doubled as a hand rest.

I had that problem also, I fixed it by lowering the seat.
QwkTrip 06-29-2008, 06:38 PM I did that for a little bit but I think I looked like a 12 year old with a big head.
nekkidhillbilly 06-30-2008, 11:20 PM i got a split bench its perfect whit the middle flipped down

Yep, me too.
I shopped around until I found a truck with the center jump seat. I had driven some trucks before I bought mine and saw this problem during some test drives.

Deffinatly rocks, like my bench.
As for the left arm I usually stick it against the glass, much nicer with the window open.
Few months ago I went down with blackmax to MI and didn't notice an issue with the stock bucket setup. Then again according to many my driving setup is odd so can't compare much.
QwkTrip 07-01-2008, 07:29 PM I agree. I have the split bench in my F250 and it's perfect. Kind of regretting this choice of console in the center. But I suppose there are worse things in life one could do wrong.
dtro1 07-02-2008, 04:00 PM I agree with your issue. I installed a replacement center console lid from JP customs that really solved the problem (right side). You can get it to match interior color, comes without the tray in the center, and is direct fit replacement. I got rid of the pillow I used to have to use!
1lowdiesel 07-02-2008, 04:17 PM you can always look for some suburban seats that have the arm rests in them. i put them in the front of mine
06DuramaxLBZ 07-02-2008, 08:25 PM Im a tall lanky guy with freakishly long arms, door arm rest and center console are perfect for me.
JPW77 07-02-2008, 10:16 PM I swear the guy that invented this thing stole the idea right out of my head! Check out the website at roadrest dot com. I love mine but after 2 years of use it's starting to look a little grungy.

I got one of those too ordered a new one cause mine too seems to be getting tired.
QwkTrip 07-02-2008, 11:17 PM I have arm rests on my seats. Are the suburban all that different?
1lowdiesel 07-03-2008, 12:46 PM i just know that they have arm rests on them. i know some of the higher modle trucks come w/ them though.
13Fox 07-04-2008, 01:53 AM I have the same problem. My last truck with the split bench was much more comfortable on the arms. I'm a pretty tall guy also, but I never use the right side arm rest cause it's too low and close to me. That's my major interior complaint.
gillguy 07-04-2008, 10:40 AM Yep, me too.

X2
All the dealers were loaded up with trucks with bucket seats and only the work trucks had the bench. They think the buckets are nicer and sell better, yes they sell if you settle for it, I found one in FL like I wanted LT with bench seat/leather. Now if it had the rubber floor cover instead of carpet it'd be perfect.
SCGMC 07-04-2008, 11:57 AM I prefer the dash that comes with the SLT interior (except the woodgrain- a fix is on the way for that) I think it fits the truck better and is more attractive. But, I have to agree that the armrest sucks. What the H@$$ is the plastic "tray" supposed to be for? It's useless and to access the console, if you did figure out what to put there, you would have to move it. I'm going to have check out the JP Customs idea. Thanks.
QwkTrip 07-04-2008, 12:27 PM What is the web link for JP customs? The link I found is out of service right now.
fristoes05LLY 07-05-2008, 03:23 PM i prop the armrest on my love handles and its the perfect height:D
JC PAINT WORKZ 07-06-2008, 02:54 AM i hate putting my elbow up on the top part of the door panel.. after about 10 minutes my elbow goes to sleep and starts hurting.. very uncomfy..

Can you post a pic of your console lid? How did this help- is the lid taller, wider, or what? Having no luck finding JP Customs, do you have a phone number or link? PM me if you prefer. Thanks.

I bet they went out of business............I should have ordered their replacement leather covered console cover when I checked it out a few months ago.
dtro1 07-08-2008, 04:17 PM Here are my pics. I got this about 3 months ago, guess they did go out of business. I sure like it and they were great to deal with.
SCGMC 07-08-2008, 06:30 PM Thanks, that looks much better than stock. It appears to be a little longer, wider and taller. Is that right? Do you have a phone number. PM if you like.
QwkTrip 07-08-2008, 08:21 PM That's not quite as tall as I was hoping but it does look like a factory job. Can you post JP's contact information from your shipping statement?
13Fox 07-08-2008, 08:49 PM Yeah that looks good. Anyone have any luck with finding JP Customs?
