I finally took the plunge and got me a Duramax- new to me, anyway
2005 2500HD CC/ SB, black ext, drk gry leather int, bone stock except for the 285 tires, which will need changing soon. Has 94k mis.
I was going to get another Tundra, the 2002 has not given any problems.
But I did the math on the mpg's and because the Dmax does a little better on avg than the Tundra the cost per mile is about the same 23 to 25 cents per mile, and of course the 2500hd is a lot more truck.
Cost wise the Chevy Duramax probably cost me an extra $3000 over what I would have paid for a 2005 Tundra DOUBLE CAB.
Now I just need to figure out my add-ons.
Already ordered an EGR blocker plate.
Will get a PCV reroute kit.
Looking for a turbo back exhaust- anyone ever hear of OBX ?

Welcome! OBX usually refers to Outer Banks, North Carolina. Could be something else. Where did you see OBX?

You made a solid choice. I had an '04 Tundra and then an '06 and made the switch after buying a toyhauler a tad too heavy for the tundra to tow. The Tundra was a awesome truck and I was very hesitant to move to GMC but now I am at 36K miles and the truck has been nothing but great to me. You will be pleased with the Duramax!

I too came from a 06 double cab 4x4, it was a great truck however it just lacked in the towing and hauling department.

My advice is to get the ppe programmer and you will really enjoy the mpgs.

Contact some of the vendors on this site about exhausts. From my research the 4in mrbp turboback is the way to go.
