Howdy. I have a 2003 2500HD D/A. Lately I have noticed that it takes longer for the A/C to start cooling down the truck. Yesterday, the A/C did not start working until I tried the A/C button about 10 times. The light for the A/C always came on; however, I never heard the compressor kick in. For the past two years I have heard this 'chirping noise' from the back of the dashboard when the compressor would kick in. I actually asked the dealer about this noise and they said it was normal - some type of relay or switch that made the 'chirping noise' when the A/C and/or defroster was on. Lately, I have not heard this noise.
Any ideas on what the problem is? It seems to me that if it were the compressor or a lack of refrigerant, the A/C would not work at all. Additionally, I am wondering why I am not hearing this 'chirping' noise anymore? Is this relay the problem? Once you all figure out what the problem is (I have great faith in this forum), is the dealer the only place that can fix it or can some corner automotive repair shop fix it properly; and, if so, does anybody have any recommendations about an automotive chain or local repair shop in the San Antonio, TX area.
Thank you all in advance. I appreciate the help.
