are your tires directional? (should have arrows if they are ) usually rotate ft to rear on a radial, if directional always same side...

Move the fronts straight back to the rear, put the right rear on the left front, and the left rear on the right front. That's straight from GM, and the norm with radial tires.

yep, but the backs would be turning the oppisite direction than they had been. would this matter.? thanks, i'm thinking this is the proper way for tread life. i had always gotten desent milage out of my tires without much rotating them, but with the price of these tires & fuel, im gonna try an get the most out of'em.

That's generally the point of criss-crossing the tires - to even out any wear caused by the tire going in the same direction all the time...

As chromey said, it only matters if they are marked "directional" and have an arrow - but it's mostly older bias and racing tires that are directional anymore. If you are talking about the 295 BFG's in your signature, those are not directional, and are fine to run both directions.

Don't rotate them any sooner than every 6,000 miles.

I have always rotated tires myself, have the tools and an easy thing to do. I have always took the fronts and moved them to rear on the same side. This last time on my Wife's Envoy I moved front left to rear left, front right to rear right, and then the rear I criss-crossed. Rear right to front left, etc. I do them around 8,000 miles.

I go back to front, then next time criss cross every 7500k works for me. I never let anyone else do it, I have had to many problems with so dip-shit using an impact and distorting a hub or a rim, I use hand tools only on aluminum, and if lazy I will remove a steel rim with impact. Always put on with hand tools and a torque wrench, I use Never-size, on the studs and between hub and rims especially on aluminum. Perfect time to inspect hubs, wheel bearrings, brakes, and grease it. Play safe!

this is exactly how we (Discount Tire) do it for everyone with non-directional tires.
