I retired from GM in 1995, so I am sure there is ALOT of new stuff I am not comfortable working on due to technologies. But in "My Day" we use to go to the Local Radio Shack & pick up a 10 Ohm, 1/2 Watt resistor, and literally solder it in-line at the Oil Sender. What this did was: Even though we "Knew" the Oil Pressure was OK, we didn't like the idea of the gauge reading Low, so this little trick was to put more resistance in-line, which raised the Needle. Again, this is just to make us feel better about what the gauge was reading.
My Question is this, Has anyone else tried this? It's just killing me to have purchased a $49,000.00 Truck, pull up to a Red Light & see the Oil Gauge drop Close to RED!
Also, does anyone know where the Oil Sender is on a 2005 LLY Motor?
Thanks.
Don.

My truck has shown low pressure since new. Several months ago I temporarily connected a mechanical gauge where my bypass filter taps into the engine. The pressure showed 20 lbs higher than the dash gauge. I am going to have the dealer replace the sending unit when I take it in for the Hydraboost recall. If you want to check your oil pressure, there is a 3/8" plug below the oil filter that you can connect to.

Mine reads low too, electrics always seem too, why don't they make them read high? Hydraboost recall....what recall?

Mine reads 25PSI at idle. But my vette runs 40PSI.

Different engines with different oiling systems.

If you want to really freak out, check the oil pressure on a roller-bearing motorcycle engine that spins to 15,000RPM. IIRC, it was 7-15PSI depending on RPM.

I know on Small Block Chevys, as long as you have 10 psi per 1000 rpm all is well. Besides, volume is more important than pressure.

That is strange. My lb7 reads45psi and idle on a 80 degree day. I still wouldn't worry about it as long it is above the red while idle
