: ECM Update or not
campsurveyor 06-26-2008, 11:53 AM I brought my truck into the dealer about a week ago for a recall, but it was for the truck might have a problem starting sometimes. Is that what you's are talking about?I don't recall seeing anything about a emc update? Thanks
D/AChris 06-26-2008, 12:04 PM ECM update fixes the potential issue of a no start due to theft deterrant programming. That's the letter GM sent to those who need to do the update. Chris
BLACK BEAUTY 07 06-26-2008, 08:01 PM Took My Truck To The Dealer Today And They Told Me If It Is Not Giving Me Any Trouble Donot Mess With It.the Dealership Said The Lights Would Start Coming On And Off Then Bring It Back.but Until Then Just Leave It Be.annyone Anyone Else Heard This.
jhall 06-26-2008, 10:27 PM I had mine done and it reset everything back to stock, tire settings included. They didn't know what to think as mine is the only one they've reflashed that had after market tire settings. The tires came on the truck and they rest it it before, said this was not supposed to have happened but it did, anyway it's back to normal now.
SO if you have bigger after market tires and had to use a tire setting to get speedo right, it may affect this at least it did mine
08DuramaxBoy 06-26-2008, 10:51 PM I had mine reflashed today. It took about 30 minutes and so far no problems yet.

When I got my truck reflased today, I asked them about recalberating my new tire size and the dealer told me that you coudn't recalberate the Diesels but you could the gas models:rolleyes: What size tires did you have to recalberate to?

Thats BS. They can but sounds like the dont wanna. If all these aftermark tuners and reprogrammers can....GM can too. SO how they sell those Rengcy with the lifts, 35+ tires and diesels if they have uncalberated speedometers.

I've got 35's on mine, it can be done.
It was making a rough differnece of 10 mph for me and then as you know all the other stuff was off too.
My truck came from the dealer with the larger tires so it was their resposibility. If you added them , you'll have to handle it with some sort of programmer. Nearly all the programmers out allow you to adjust for tire sizes.
07DuramaxHD 06-30-2008, 09:22 PM going to have my LMM reflashed tomorrow...any need for me to "unplug" my resonator or will they not be fooling around that?
07DuramaxHD 07-01-2008, 03:56 PM getting ready to head to the dealer...anyone think I need to remove the plug???
goodwrenchtech 07-01-2008, 04:05 PM leave it, its no big deal and they should not be missing with that.
Dakster 07-01-2008, 05:37 PM Welp. FWIW my reflash seemed to fix my regen too often problem. I went 250 miles between regens instead of the usual 125-175..... It does take the dealer a little time and from what I gather a PITA to do for them, which is why the dealer doesn't like to do it. At least that is the impression I got and apparently someone else here did too.
Other than that I've noticed no difference. I hope that it stops my check engine light from coming on after a regen as well, only time will tell.

Thats exactlly what I thought. He sorta got off topic when I minchined it to the service manger. I guess I will have to wait and get me a stealth to fix the problem:RockOn::RockOn:
kevmi44 07-04-2008, 04:44 AM Hi,
Just wanted to throw out there that if you do not want to get the ECM reflash, there are some service advisers/writers that can put it in the service system that they peformed the reflash but actually do not. This way, it will not keep coming up as not-performed and you will not have to constantly remind them that you do not want the reflash everytime you take the truck in for service.
That's what I did, since I have the PPE Race tuner and replaced the factory dpf-exhaust with a 5" turbo-back system from Magnaflow.

I didn't get that impression when I took mine in. Took them about an hour. Maybe you have a dealer that is more interested in SALES instead of SERVICE AFTER THE SALE!
Regen at 250 , must be a difference of driving habits. Mine has been Regen @ 400 miles +/- 20 after the flash. Prior to this was about 325 +/- 20. Might be more attributed to the warmer weather now and summer fuel though.
