: Stupid truck started not starting sometimes!! wtf
JOKERGERM 06-26-2008, 01:05 AM So this has happened like 3 other times.
but today it happend like 3 times today!
My truck will run and drive fine, then i will turn it off, and get back in it and start it. it starts kinda, then you push the gas pedel and it does nothing( like to pedal is broken, then i turn it off and try again, same thing, After the 3rd time it runs fine.
Its like it goes to limp mode for no reason. any ideas
this is the best way i can describe the problem.
A1deerhunter 06-26-2008, 01:39 AM Please all you diesel heads don't rip me to bad:o:. Cause I am not to savvy on the workings of diesel. I have a friend whose gasser was having problems starting. Turned out to be the cam positioning sensor. Now go ahead, have your fun at my expense:p:

You may have a fuel leak. Next time it won't start, try to prime it.
Sounds like you may be sucking air. D-maxes suck the fuel from the tank, and don't necessarily leak fuel when this is happening. Next time it won't start, go hit the primer til it gets hard and see if the truck will kick over. If it does, prolly sucking air. check the WIF (water in fuel on the bottom of the fuel filter) sensor. Mine did the same thing and that was it.
good luck

JOKERGERM 06-27-2008, 02:35 AM OK maybe i was not clear enough on this.
when it does this, it will start and idle, but when you press the pedal, it does not respond like at all.
then turn it off restart it, and it will run again and kinda rev up when you press the pedal
and the 3rd restart is seems to be fine.
drmatt 06-27-2008, 06:09 AM is the CEL on? Or did you read the codes that it threw if any? Sounds kinda fishy, I'd drop the edge chip out, maybe theres a connection problem where the edge splices in on the engine harness there.
Its classic edge chip style to dank around with stuff. I think lots of guys have all kinds of wierd problems with those things. First i've heard of one like this mind you. My brother had lots of problems with his,

But anyway, lose the edge it will sove your problems, its a communication error between the body control module, brake control module, and the transfer case module
