Does anybody know of a different shifter for the ZF that will work in our trucks? BD Power has one. See http://www.dieselperformance.com/ford/product.php?pn=BD%20Short%20Shift&tt=ford
Is there another vendor who has one for GM or does anyone know whether the one above will also fit a GM?

Don't know but $380 is a lotta bling. I have a solid aluminum shift lever that doesn't have the rubber bushing in the bottom. It amplifies the tranny noise but I can feel the gates better...and looks cool too with a Hurst tee handle.

very . thanks looks very nice. so the stock shifter has a rubber bushing in it?
do you feel it click into gear now?
Yes I had it made myself. A gov't job through my Dad and he said the guys made a ton of chips!!!! The bend is approx 15 degrees. You could also do a straight shaft and cut the end at 15 and drill and tap the hole at that angle. If I did it again I'd shorten it a couple inches. It would help the throw during shifts.
The stock shifter is a metal tube with an aluminum plug in the bottom surrounded by a rubber boot. On the plus side getting away from that allows you to feel the gates. I can even power shift the 1-2 change without ending up in 6th!!! The bad news is it transmits more tranny noise into the cab. Good for listening for possible clutch/flywheel problems. My wife is used to it now and I just play the radio louder. I did put a rubber gasket on the end along with a flat and lock washer. It calmed the noise down a bit and the lock is needed otherwise the shifter will vibrate loose.
No I don't plan on anymore. My Dad heated and bent mine. The straight version could be trialed for function using a wood dowel before commiting to the metal one. That would be easier for production.
