I have an '02 D/A and use the Predator (latest update 1.11) on the 40 hp. tow setting. I starting using the Predator a couple of days ago. When I engage the tow haul mode and really get on it, I get a pretty good rpm surge between shifts (seems like most call this "flare"). It does not seem to do this (or do it as much in regular mode). When I hooked up my 5th wheel today (11K) it was really bad - significant spikes and hard hitting when it grabbed. Usually 2-3 shift seemed worse. It does not do this stock, so I am wondering if this is a learning issue with the Allie? Do you think it will get better? Also the dealer said a couple of months ago the clutches were good in the Allison.
Thanks,
Todd

It is normal, as will get better as the Alli learns. Drive it on an empty stretch of highway to 50 mph, take your foot off the accelerator and put the gear selector down to 1st. Let the tranny downshift through the gears and allow the vehicle coast to a stop. Put it in Park, and turn it off. Restart and repeat 3 times. You will see a drastic improvement in the shifting, as your Allison transmission has just "learned."
