-:t Probably would have sold if it could have been hooked up behind a real engine like the Dmax or 8.1! It was intended for those who tow, yet the biggest motor was what, the 6.0? Double -:t

They just introduced it in the 3/4T Suburbans.....So this is it? One year in a HD chassis and they pull the plug?

I agree, they needed to make it available in 3/4/1T SRW, and NOT make it wider like they did on the 1/2 tons. Use airbags or coils in the rear and make it REALLY turn back there.

I always invisioned a K-5 Blazer with 4WS as the ultimate plow truck. Drive up a driveway, turn around at the end without backing up, and plow back out!!!

It was WAY too costly of an option anyway. Detroit needs to lower the cost of these "cool" options. A couple hundred would fly, not a couple thousand! Same with the D/A option....way to expensive if you ask me.

I agree, way too costly. I would want one in a 3/4 or 1 ton in a trailer lot maybe.

i realize my dad is not quite like everyone on here but he said if it was a 3000 option he would have gotten it because he got everything on this truck to run it till it dies. he keeps his trucks for 10 years or more on average ... and he wanted to keep the 6.0 but since the duramax came out he got one of them on 02 ..... i still think he will run this one till it spills it's guts completely.

They can't liquidate all of their parts. Doesn't the manufacturer has to keep a supply on hand for repairs for 13 years, or so. I don't know if Delphi will continue to stock parts for repair/replacement purposes.

I used to work at the assembly plant where this axle is made - Dana Corp in KY. I was Man. Eng. there and almost got this product line. My boss gave me the Jeep Liberty instead. Anyway, when the first rumblings came out about this axle and we got to see and play with proto-parts my boss was asking my opinion on it. He is a typical old-school engineer and car/hot rod guy and knew I was a Chevy and 4x4 buff. We were talking about it and I told him it would never be a hit UNLESS they offered it on stripped down work trucks. I explained that the majority of people who buy a truck would not spend $40k + on a 1/2 ton truck - and an ugly 1/2 ton truck at that. I mean you go to a lot and see a Dmax 2500HD sitting next to a Qsteer 1500 - which one would you buy? I told him that long time, old-fashioned truck buyers would worry and automatically think "just something else to break or work on". Also, the larger % of truck buyers don't buy the top of the line loaded up mega-buck truck to begin with, never mind tacking the crazy (at that time it was rumored to be around $3500 option) price they wanted on top of that. No, Delphi and GM should have offered the axle on stripped down work trucks all the way to the loaded up LT. They should have approaced it with the mindset of getting the axle into the mainstream truck users for exposure. If companies would have bought some for work trucks (construction, utility, jobsites, etc...the turning radius would have excelled in these enviroments) the common working man would have been driving them day in and day out as their company trucks and this would have been great for marketing and getting the word out. "Fred" and "Tom" would have been talking about how impressive the Qsteer made the truck in tight spots and general driving and how well it worked and was tougher than they figured it would be and how much extra room it took to turn their personal "regular" trucks and how they "sure wished their truck was a Qsteer when they got back in them at the end of the day to come home" to all their hunting and fishing buddies, and their family and friends after eating Sunday dinner or their Thursday night poker game. Then when "Fred" and "Tom" get ready to trade their personal trucks in and get a new truck they would be looking for a Qsteer because they "have been driving one everyday at work for the past year and wouldnt think of buying a truck without it".

I never got to drive a production truck but I got to drive a prototype way back when and was amazed at the difference it made. I do believe however that they reduced the range of movement on the production units from the one I drove. Had they been able to have the truck look "regular" and not have the flared bedsides and cablights (and not have priced the option so high) I would have definately traded my truck in on one.
