Guys i need some conviencing on which route to go...do i go with the quad, ppe, or go efilive?

i have the quad in my dually with the dpf delete and its a great programmer, but for my personal truck i plan on eventually adding a full built tranny and all that good stuff, which makes me want to go ppe or efilive. but probably wont do the tranny for 6 months mayb even longer.

but heres what im thinking and hopefully yall can push me in one direction...it would be easier for me to get the quad since its cheaper and could correct my speedo right away then later do the straight pipe, but would eventually want more power down the road which makes me want to do the ppe, but i know alot of you guys like efilive becuase it can basically change watever you want but it seems pretty complicated which kind of steers me away from it...

i need to get something soon since my bigger tires will be on friday and my speedo will be way off with 40" tires and really want to get this thing straight piped like my dually...so wat route would you guys go?

Im happy with the ppe, and with the 40's your abs light and service trailer brake light will probably come on untill you correct you speedo, thats what mine did when i changed gear ratios.I was told after a certain % of difference over stock thats what happens. Then no trailer brakes or abs!! I was pissed after spending 2000 on gear swaps and then having a bunch of warning lights on!! All is well now! I was kinda scared of efi live, not real savvy on that kinda stuff, the ppe just seemed easier.

ya i kinda figured id have a few lights on without the programmer with the bigger tires...didnt think about the trailer brakes, sucks since ill be pulling a trailer with it. im definitly going to be needing one soon. what level are you running your ppe?

EFI LIVE all the way. You will not look back. Once you get EFI LIVE you can sell the Quad and use EFI LIVE to tune both trucks. There is not limit with EFI LIVE. You can also down load the Quad tunes onto EFI LIVE so you can still use the Quad tunes on both trucks. If you have any questions about anything please feel free to PM me.

how hard was it for you to learn efilive? if i decide on it im leaning toward ordering it from duramaxtuners with there library access would you suggest this for a first timer to help me get started?

Don't let what seems to be voodoo magic with EFILive keep you from purchasing an awesome programmer. There's plenty of help in the forums and some really good video tutorials out that can help you understand a lot of what EFILive is all about.

Quad works great for me. I have no desire to tweak all the little things inside the ECM - but EFILive is a very thorough product for the hardcore tuner.

The way I see it, $400 worked perfect for me. There is free updates via USB cable to your PC/laptop at home. There have been at least 5 updates in this last year - just for the LMMs. So, they are on top of things around there.

It adjusts your limiter, tire size (speedo), and also does real-time display if you leave it plugged in. Quite a bit of info, including fuel pressure(s) and injector balance rates. Especially now, since they have added the non-DPF STOCK tune and the 135hp tune, I don't see what else I would ever need. Plus, you can go back to "with DPF" whenever you want. Switch back and forth at will - with no extra $

Im running the 160 horse tune, and i dont have a laptop for efi live so that was another reason i went with ppe

i ges right now im leaning toward just getting another quad and saving the money for now and when the time comes go for the ppe or efilive...i know a few months back there were rumors of ppe making it adjustable to keep the vanes open on the turbo at idle did this ever go through?

I thought I heard someone say that PPE was discontinuing their EGR blocker plate and tuner which allowed DPF delete has anyone one else heard this?

They used to have two race versions. They dumped the Hot race and kept the Hot Race +2.

That could be due to EPA cracking down on aftermarket companies for removing emissions equipment or helping customers do it on their own. I am not sure to the validity of your statement, but if true, I would think EPA is playing a small if not larger roll in it.

But making a EGR blocker plate yourself for instance is not that hard. Many have done it, and I am sure many more will do it in the future. As long as there is a will there will always be a way.

Tony

BTW, I love my EFI Live!

Don't think about the Quad if you're looking to straight pipe at some point -It won't block the 4301EGR code like PPE or EFI.

Yes. Quad blocks the EGR. You can block the EGR with the Quad as you can with the others.

I dont have any problems with codes using the quad. Never have. Like stated above the quad does block the egr and dpf codes if you have the off road tunning.;)

well guys i went with the quad becuase it was the cheaper route to go but it looks like i will probably be going to efilive soon. man reason is i got my lift on last friday and with my 40" tires even recalibrated it still turn the abs and service trailer brakes light on...i dont really care too much about the abs but i need trailer brake for pulling my 28ft enclosed. any ideas other than having to get efilive to turn it off? i think it has to do with my wheel sensors.

also my tmps is on because the max psi the tires goto is 50psi and they the sensors are telling me its low since it suppost to be at 65...

what wire do i unplug to turn the egr off? ive been meaning to do this to my dually and now my new truck but not sure which one, i know it will still blow open at higher boost but atleast i will help till i get a blocker plate.

As far as the egr just unplug it when the truck is cold and not running. The plug has a couple of wires in it. Located under the intake tube, hooked to the egr motor. Also the tps will not set an abs code. The tps pressure can be changed with a tech 2 so that light will go out. Know for the abs there are others that ran into this problem. Do a search and that will tell you how to fix that.

ya i kno the tpms is not connected to the abs or trailer brakes but all 3 lights are on. ill do a search on it and see if i can find a way to fix it. i just dont see how the pp and quad would be different since it basically recalibrates the samething and my speedo is spot on...
