Hey guys just curious what ya'll are charging hourly for dozer work? I bought a john deere 550H LT this week, and I plan on doing some side work with it. I'm guessing somewhere in the $65 to $75 range? I've got a few people already wanting me to do work, and I want to be fair in charging them.

Thanks
Keith

Assuming you're semi-competent with your machine, $65-$75/hour is relatively cheap, even in our remote neck of the woods...one of my best friends runs a track loader for a living, and I believe he gets in the neighborhood of $85-$100/hour...the way most folks see it, if you're good with your machine, they don't mind paying more per hour, but they don't wanna be over charged for someone who's just out there making a mess (and it can happen in a hurry).

Thanks for the input 454. I'm not that bad at all on a machine. I've dug tanks, cleared land, and did some general dirt work on our ranch. I just want to be fair on my pricing.

We've got a 650G and a D6C the 650 is $100/hr minimum. hard pushing and stumps price goes up same as fuel use. you start using 4-8 gallons of fuel an hour and the $$$ add up fast.

Whatever the market will bear.Completely depends on where you are, just like anything else.Just 2 miles from me for instance, when you cross the bridge over the river into another county, those guys get $20-$30 an hour less on utility size iron than my county.I get $110 per hour for my 450D.

Thanks guys. Picked it up this afternoon. Runs strong, and it seems to be a pretty tight machine. I've got a couple of jobs lined up, so will see how she'll do.

I need to take a little slack out of one of the tracks, but other than that no complaints.

those are nice little dozers. I have had the pleasure of maintaining more than a few of those cute little boogers. To tell you the truth I am a cat man myself(for large dozers) but I like them better than the little mitsupillars. Most of what I ever had to repair on them lil' jd's was normal maint. and retarded ass operator damage.

I cant tell you how many people I see have something for years with no rain cap, most of the time they do put a can over it. I can get rain caps for les then $3. Its alot better then having to put on and take off a tin can or bucket all the time.

I kind of like cat's myself. We had a d6 at our farm for a month and I loved that thing.
I just got a hell of a deal on this one, and I couldn't pass it up.

Nice unit km .

Thanks JD. Thanks Tim.

At quality farm and fleet they are like $2.94, The bigger ones like 3" or bigger are like $4-$5.

How would you like to put on and take off a 55 gallon drum that serves as a rain cap when in storage? Yup,the world's largest road grader, only 2 ever built over in Germany for maintenance of the haul roads at some huge mines.I'll try and find the pics on it.Really awesome.
