I have a SC V on it's way. I'm trying to decide my HP upgrade path as all I have now is a regular Juice, no attitude...ain't going to cut it. I'm very interested in the TTS Extreme but from what I've read it may not be the best option for my "wants". I tow occasionally... about 12K lb trailer ...probably a dozen times year.
I have always towed in level 1 or 2 with Juice. I gather with the TTS Extreme it can be toggled between 80, 120 and 200 but cannot be turned off completely? I want something I can change levels on the fly, remove easily for dealer visits, etc. I already have gauges which is why I don't have or desire the attitude ...and with a Hot OJ/attitude combo the top level is 145 correct? Also don't want a programmer ...no way to change levels on the fly ...
I hear the TTS 80 level runs pretty cool ...but cool enough to tow? Initially I was decided on the extreme thinking I could turn it off completely when I towed ...then heard it cannot be turned off which has thrown a monkey wrench into my decision. I know lots of guys are waiting on the PL III but I'm assuming there won't be a way to change levels on fly ..perhaps there will be but no one knows. Not sure how long I'll be able to wait after I get the tranny installed next week. the 90 juice is just going to be a tease.
Thoughts?

If you can get one, get the Extreme, works well all around from those who have it. Better get on the list now so you can get it soon

A list? ShCensored ... I thought they were readily available now? Any idea what the wait time is? My luck ... "now serving 378,302,001".

I know of at least one person who tows with it set to "kill" on his LB7. Just got to watch your gauges.

I wondered why I have seen EGT gauges bounce off the needle on the high side.. and I mean bounce

What? one of those 100 lb yard trailers you can get at Lowes and pickup with one hand? :) I just want to be sure I can safely tow with it on 80 ...the worst thing would be having to back out of it on a pull due to EGT's with a Ford coming up on the side :( how many times can the EGT needle go roundy round before things start to melt?

I would say you are fine with the 80hp setting while towing. Steve designed it so that the 80hp setting would be optimal for towing. Although I'm not 100% sure about this I would think he could set it up so you had off and two other settings (Extreme and either the 80hp or 120hp).
I waited roughly two months for mine. Most seem to wait around this time. He does them in batches I believe and it takes him some time to do each. You may want to call him or Vicki as they'd be able to tell you better. It's worth the wait though ;)

Eric, out here in the Wild West we have hills higher then 200' :)

I also want to add that although I don't tow as much as some of you I've towed numerous times with it on the 80hp setting (and I have 40% injectors). The hottest I've seen the EGT's was around 1400* during a steep climb (and I maintained 75 up the hill with no problems with an 18,000 GCW). I've towed between 10,000 and 22,000 GCW with it and never once been worried.

All very good info. I appreciate the "support" ... X&stards :) You were suppose to talk me out of it :) Guess it's time to get on the list and wait for my number to be called. Waiting is going to be the hardest part.

Heck, some of the DRIVEWAYS I've seen are higher than 200'. ;)
Besides, I thought the purpose of a pyrometer is like those breathylizers they have in bars you pay $1 to use:
"HOLY COW!!! I blew a .51!!! See if you can top that Bubba!" :D

I've towed 18k GCVW with the Predator (v1.04), Quad Stealth, and TTS tow (80HP) tune. The TTS tow tune produces more power at lower EGTs than either the Predator or Stealth by a fair margin.
With any tow tune, you still need to watch your EGTs, particularly pulling long grades in 5th, because although you may have the torque to hold your cruising speed, lugging the engine will increase EGTs.
