This truck has been running perfect from day one, and today we got our first check engine light. Truck runs long hours sometimes ( dont think this would do it) and works pretty hard. We dont notice anything different about the way its running, it seems to be the same. Truck is going to the Dealer on Thursday for this, do you think its ok to run until then?

Funny thing..
A buddy of mine bought an '05 (at my suggestion), and within a week the CEL came on, and it went into limp mode. He bought an OBD2 tool, checked the code and took it to the dealer. The dealer sat on it for maybe 6 weeks unable to fix the problem Anyway, it's about 3 months later now, and the check from GM just arrived(buyback). I suspect, he just ended up with a dealer with an unqualified diesel mechanic (Power/Auto Nation), and had the guy knew what he was doing, it would have been fixed,and forgotten

find an autozone or a place that will scaqn it for your for free. that way you know what it is.

Has it had routine maint. done on it? If not it could be something for example a dirty air filter is causing restriction may set off codes. What about the glow plug light? Does it turn off after about 3 sec. max? Let us know what you find.

EGR Valve needs replacing.
