Is there a way to lock the door with the engine running? Like when you stop for a drink at a convenient store or warm the truck up in the moring.
It's a 05 GMC 3500 4x4 Dually.

Maybe from the passenger side

I have tried to lock it with the remote from outside the truck and door closed. No luck with that way.

I was thinking maybe you can open the passanger door and lock it from that side. I have never tried though.

I am going to try putting it in neutral with the parking break on.
I understand it’s to keep you from locking the keys in the truck, but it makes it easer to steal the truck. I have a key stashed on the outside because I have lock the keys inside on the seat before. And now I could call Onstar to get me in.

My '05 SLT will lock with the engine running and the doors closed using the factory alarm keyfob.

Ditto, get you a pull apart key ring and use the key fob to lock it from the outside.

Another option would be to get a remote start for the truck. It will allow you to leave it running and remove the key from the ignition thus taking them with you while also locking the truck. This way if someone does get in and trys to steal it when they put their foot on the brake it will kill the engine.

Hope this helps.

It worked with the key fob with the engine running today. I don’t know why it didn’t work earlier. I went and bought a quick release key ring works great.

Thank for all the help.
