I was checking oil today and checking under hood to see if everything was normal and lo and behold noticed that my filterminder was gone from my airbox. Must have worked loose somehow and fell out and I have no idea whenCensored . I do not know if this is a problem but just wanted to let people know so they can check theirs before it might come out.:(

When you install the replacement, turn it 3-5 complete revolutions afyter you think its installed. Chances are that it wasn't installed right before. Its kind of tricky putting it in right.

This is a problem. The filterminder is on the CLEAN side of the filter. You are pulling unfiltered air/dirt into your engine. Fix it right away. Or cover the hole with some BIG piece of duct tape. BIG so it won't get sucked into the turbo.

If your truck is under warranty have the dealer install it for free. Later! Frank

I did not word this right, in reference to a problem I meant with them coming out. Yes it is an issue with clean air and hopefully has not been out to long. Thanks.

I knocked mine off when I was changing my oil and fuel filter. I caught it when it happened though. It fell down on the skidplate.

same thing happened to me, and one other guy piped up and said it happened to him too. are we all knocking these things out or are they coming out on their own?

mine shows it pegged all the time any way. Hunk of junk if you ask me. Close the hole up and replace the filter every 10k or so.

I think wakeboarder is correct - use the $$$ for a couple of sixers (or you favorite poison).

I knew if this topic kept going someone would call them junk, unnecessary etc. I decided to remove my Amsoil and replace it with a new Delco last week after reading the filter test results one more time. While at the dealership buying a new filter I asked one of Techs how they determined when to change the air filter. He said just by visual inspection because he had never seen the monitors move. Since I had nothing better to do than change the filter I decided to do a little experiment. I taped over approximately have the inlet side of the new filter and installed in in the box. I drove around until the truck came up to speed. With the Juice on 90 I did one full bore run up to about 75 MPH. When I inspected the monitor it was at approximately 60%. This is close enough to see that it works fairly well. The Techs thought it was interesting. Don't know if they will change the way they do inspections or not. You can reset them by pushing the gray rubber pad on the end. Later! Frank

are you running a Delco filter or other after market ?

Bet if you went to an AC Delco filter, it wouldn't trip for quite some time !

I have found that most often, an after market filter is too restrictive and causes the minder to trip.

and in most of those cases, I find I have to pull the filter out of the UPPER part of the air box for the same reason, they are being sucked into the air intake tube.

How much are you really saving buying the cheaper filter ?

Nothing but delco here!
