I was talking to Hypertech today about my 04.5 LLY. They told me if I have GM reflash my truck, It will cost $200.00 dollars to have hypertech reprogram my box to work with the new GM flash. Has any one done this? Is their a way around this? I told hypertech that if I had to spend 200.00, I am going to buy a new programer (not Hypertech), they do not care!!

I dont see that. Unless there was a misunderstanding and they thought you ment if you didnt take the hypertech program out first, before having it reprogrammed.

If it's meant for an LLY, then that's what it means. Sounds like they're playing with your mind. The update to the programmer, if needed, should be free of charge.

If you have your stock program updated and the Hypertech will not work then they should fix that for free. At least that is what they told me.

you must have the 30021 hypertech ( older programmer for 01-04.5 ), the one you need is 30029 ( this programmer is for the new duramaxs ), sell your old one on ebay, you'll probally get 200.00, then buy one off ebay ( a 30029 ) for 200+ ? and you'll be set.

I have delt with this before.. had the ecu reprogrammed by the dealer to fix an issue then when I tried to put my hypertech back on it would not take it, didn't recognize the altered ecu program.
I called Hypertech and they said they would need to flash the hypertech programmer and it would only cost $15 for shipping. BUT..if the hypertech programmer was purchased used, i.e. you are not the original owner they said it would then cost $200 to reprogram it. They said they can tell how many vehicles it had been on.
Mine was brand new, but this may be the wall you are running into. If thats the case then just do what I did, and what someone above said. Sell it and get another one.
good luck

same thing happend to me when i sold a buddy of mine a hypertech off a 6.0 for his 4.8. he updated the calibration of his pcm and the hypertech wouldn't re-install.
because it has been on a vehicle before this one hypertech said it would cost him $200. i argued with them for 30minutes and the only answer i got was "thats our policy". i even told him i just bought a new truck and it was off my old one and i am the original purchaser. but they still wouldn't do it. man they pissed me off.
