: What did I do?!?!
Dawg2500HD 06-21-2008, 08:48 PM I few minutes ago I was pulling out into the road with the Edge on 4/3 and I got on it a little bit, not extremely hard. It took off like a bat out of ****! Then I slowed down because of a speed zone. When I went to get back up to speed the truck hesitated bad! It won't rev pass 2000 RPMs and won't build more than 10 PSI of boost! Truck shifts fine, so I didn't slip the tranny! What DID I do to cause this!? Truck is in sig.

JC1843 06-21-2008, 09:07 PM Sounds like the fuel filter needs changing!:)
Dawg2500HD 06-21-2008, 09:14 PM I thought that could be it too, but I shut the truck off and now it's fine....
PoPsRacing 06-21-2008, 09:32 PM Any codes? 1093 maybe?
pc_renaud 06-21-2008, 10:07 PM maybe went into limp mode?
BigDmax 06-21-2008, 10:14 PM I thought that could be it too, but I shut the truck off and now it's fine....
I would still say fuel filter. Mine did sort of the same thing, next day ran fine for awhile then acted up again. If you haven't changed it in awhile than that's more than likely your problem.

X2 ;)
Dawg2500HD 06-21-2008, 11:52 PM My Edge doesn't scan codes so I have no idea if I threw one. What is the 1093?

It's the trouble code for low fuel rail pressure. Means you need to change your fuel filter.

Or FPRV needs shimmed or replaced.
Dawg2500HD 06-22-2008, 05:32 PM Oh ok! I had plans to change the oil tomorrow, so I'll go ahead and change the fuel filter as well! Thanks for the help guys!

bobbss 06-23-2008, 10:02 AM When ever mine does it thats when I know it's time to change the filter and it always takes care of it.
Jerry01 06-23-2008, 10:24 AM Jeremy, I had the same thing happen to me a while back. It could be a few different things. Some say that if you are below a 1/4 tank of fuel, that could cause it, especially going uphill. Could also be your fuel filter, or your FPRV. And letting off the gas after full throttle doesn't help either. The quickest fix would be the fuel filter. You didn't limp anything, so I wouldn't worry about that. Jerry.
Dawg2500HD 06-23-2008, 06:58 PM Well, I now remember that I WAS below 1/4 of a tank AND my filter was clogged like crazy! I changed it today. It had a little trash in it and the liquid was orange! She runs beautiful now!
Jeremy
BigDmax 06-23-2008, 09:13 PM Glad you got it fixed. I love it when it turns out to be something simple.
Dawg2500HD 06-23-2008, 10:13 PM You're tellin me! Cause when it's not simple it's usually expensive!

Thats the truth. I had the exact same thing happen to me the day after i bought my truck from the dealer and knew NOTHING about the engine. I thought they sold me junk! it scared the hell outta me. Simple fix, glad to hear you got it done.
PoPsRacing 06-24-2008, 04:36 PM Sounds like you may want to drop your tank and flush it out if there's that much crap plugging things up. I almost always run my truck well below 1/4 tank with no problems. If I fill up when I'm right at 1/4 it only takes 18 gallons, I think the fuel gauge varies a little from truck to truck.

I'm with Pops - I run my truck under 1/4 tank all the time with no problems. If you're having those kind of problems, I'd drop and flush the tank. Otherwise, you're just putting off another episode to a later date.

X4, I run my tank to 0% using EFILive (have an aux tank and trying to see how low i can run my tank till it is dead empty, trying to figure out how many usable gallons:duh:)
Fuel filter has never clogged off schedule. I'd change the filter and run the tank almost empty to see if it clogs again. Then youll know if you have to pull it.
JC1843 06-25-2008, 10:54 AM People forget that the fuel pick-up is always drawing fuel from the bottom of the tank -- no matter what the fuel level is! It is possible that there is some stuff floating in the fuel at the top of the tank, but not likely. :D

This is true. The bouyancy of the garbage in your tank would determine a lot of things!
Tutts 06-25-2008, 12:40 PM Sound to me like the orange color may be some rust. Could have been some water in the filter that started to rust a bit.
Dawg2500HD 06-25-2008, 04:52 PM well, I did a little "research" between my dad borrowing my truck to haul some stuff and my girlfriend driving it.....well, my girlfriend accidentally put about 4 gallons of gas in it not long ago. so I assume the orange color is a little diesel and alot of gas mixed together!
skleppy 06-25-2008, 07:41 PM You let your girlfriend drive your truck??? You sir are a brave man. I don't even let my WIFE drive my truck. But then again she can't barely get into to it to so that helps.
