Hello all, I have been doing some reading on the fuel filter addon, and I llike both filters, nicktane and racor, but the kits are a little pricey. I can get a great price on WIX filters thru work and I looked in the catalog and found filter kits by stanadyne, fhe fm100 series with the bowl and water sensor and a hand primer for a very good price. Does anyone have any opinions on this type of setup and is there any bad things about this filter setup?
Thanks Bart

I would be willing to bet $ that the stanadyne filters are made by caterpiliar. I run the fm100 with the built in pump. Actually I'm running 2 fm100's with the pumps.
Nictane kit is nice becasue its a kit with everything needed for a simple install. The quick conects make life very easy. If you go with the stanadyne or something else you will need to come up with plumbing and then plumb the dude. You are paying for ease and completeness also.

The Racor will take tops of 1 hour to install. Bolts to the frame in exsisting holes and all you do is cut the fuel line behind the filter with a small tubing, slide the hose from the filter over the line and install clamp. The Racor kit is complete with everything and the basic kit is $175.

If you run WIX filter i belive they make a replacement for the cat 1R-0749. bang for your buck its the best element ou there. 2 micron, large capacity and if you're price conscious, you can buy the baldwin equivalent for less than $10.
