I thought I would start a new thread from this one ( http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=185965&page=15 ) to give you some numbers after I installed the Banks Monster Exhaust, Ram Air Intake and 6 Gun Tuner with PDA. The route is to and from work from home and includes city and highway driving. I logged the fuel mileage after two days (approximately 95 miles) Here are the numbers.
Level 1 = 14.5 MPG (Stock tuner setting)
Level 2 = 16.4 MPG
Level 3 = 16.4 MPG
Level 4 = 15.1 MPG (467 miles Regen included)
Level 5 = 16.8 MPG
Level 6 = 16.6 MPG

I really tried my best to drive the same way during the test. I do like to products, but I was hoping for a little better improvement but I'll take the 16% increase. Before you ask I did use the DIC to calculate the mileage for ALL of the settings, so any error is included in all of the results. Since I regeared after addind the larger tires my speedo is correct and therefore the DIC should be close enough to calculate the mileage.

I have had the product installed for almost 2000 miles and I do love the extra horsepower:D. I have had the ECM reflashed with no issues because Banks is an inline module rather than a programmer.

Thanks for the info Joe. Two miles per gallon is about what I was expecting, or at least hoping for. Do you have any 0-60 times or 1/4 mile times? Just to get a decent idea of the performance increase. Thanks for any more help you can give.

you need to do a hand calc because the DIC is off when you add main injection pulse, which im sure banks is doing to get more power. that is what an efi tuner/dealer told me anyways.

Thanks for the info, since your using banks I was wondering what device are you using to account for your gear change and different tire size..Josh

Not just pulse width, we also alter the rail pressure and the injection timing. All of the changes will vary depending on the power setting:D

I don't know why the sensor that reads the amount of fuel being used would be affected ... I'll bet it's a lot more accurate than reading a station's pump to the nearest 10th of a gallon ... are you going to fill up at the same pump each time?

Josh,
When I re-geared to 4.11's that took care of the difference for the larger tires. The speedo is dead on when compared to GPS so, no additional mods are needed.

The 6-Gun intercepts and modifies the data from the computer to the engine.

Hand calculating it will get you an accurate reading.

I am seeing that having 9000 miles and up on the truck yields better MPG...

Jeff,

I seem to remember you saying something about the new location of the MAF sensor with the ram air intake a causing error also?

Thanks Joe, pretty simple, that didnt even cross my mind, I thought maybe you used true speed or something along those lines, thanks for the info..Josh

Jeff,

Other way around, the MAF sensor is relocated to prevent a CEL. The MAF code that pops up with a new intake is due to the fact the air flow over the sensor is much higher and well outside the sensors range. In it's new location the sensor reads in the range it's expecting and the CEL never shows up:D

I'm sorry. I should have specified which "error" I was talking about. I was referring to the error in the mileage number the DIC is reporting due to the relocation of the MAF sensor.

Ah, yep. The increase in air flow vs. truck speed screws up the DIC. When you modify the intake and exhuast you need to start checking the mileage by hand.:D

I have a completely stock truck, and I will tell you that the DIC is rarely correct when compared to a hand calculation. I have had it off by as much as 4 MPG. I havent talked to anyone that has had accurate DIC MPG readings out of their truck with or without a tune. The other problem we all run into in calculating our MPG is that our Fuel tanks have a poor design, and you have to be patient for the fuel to completely settle and for the air to escape when refueling, otherwise you will get huge variants in your calculations for "Full" as you can have a gallon of air or more trapped inside the tank that doesnt "burp" out until you have hit the road.

i had the banks 6 gun on my old lb7.on level six it definetly had more power but the mileage was much worse even without my foot in it.it's feeding more fuel in the higher modes.i don't see how the mileage could improve.

Yes you can, though the dealer will have to disconnect the OBDII connector to reflash the ECM. The six gun will not be affected by this.

This works nice for Hptuners also. :D
