So here is what the truck does. When going to hit the gas in like 5th gear the truck won't build any power. Then all of a sudden its like you hit a switch and it will kick on and build power. It keeps going back and forth doing this. The code reader says MAF or VAF something. Anybody help me out?

this is what that code means , hope this helps in diagnosis

P0101 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance Problem

First thing you should probably do is take the finger stick back out of the circuit and see if it corrects the problem. If that works, there is probably a bad component or solder connection on the Finger Stick.

do you have cat or muffler on your exhaust? i see youve got a 4" but it doesnt specify as to whether or not youve removed cat and exhaust. when i did my 5" i got P0103 which is a similar code (mass or volume circuit high input) . I dont know if the fingers stick is causing your code or problem. Like smokndmax said, remove it, or check all your connections on the stick and see if problem goes away. I tend to doubt that it will. I doubt that the fingerstick is causing the problem, however I feel like it should prevent the code from being thrown so perhaps your connection is no good or the stick has a bad component, also like smokndmax said. Worst case scenario talk to fingers, he knows more than any of us about these issues.

Yeah I have the cat removed. I will probably have to talk to Fingers here at some point.

Do a search on AFE Stage 2...

My first guess would be a bad connection. However, there are not a whole lot of people running the Stick without the EGR plate and I have not kept track how the AFE might work in here either.

FWIW, the Stick modifies nothing at WOT. I am thinking the AFE 2. Is your system a Cat back or catless and did you have EGR codes prior to the Stick?

My system is full 4 inch turbo back. No cat. The truck is doin the same thing now as it was back before I had recieved the upgraded filter from AFE. I have the blocker plate in as well. I was setting codes before with just the exhaust and updated AFE filter, but no Fingers mods. Truck has run fine for a long time. This just kind of started all of a suddon. I would say loose connection maybe. Gonna check it out in a bit.

i would say to take all your connections out and solder them. Solder ensures the best connection. Mine was giving me a headache with codes until I took all my connections out and soldered them. As I was taking them apart, I noticed the intermittent connections.

Been fine ever since the soldering.

Well fortunatly it was an easy fix. The really great design of the AFE was at fault again. The tube had come out of the airbox since you need to have someone sit on it to get it in there. So I assume that was the problem. Thanks for all the help fellors.

I have the fingers and the EGR plate in. I was pulling my trailer in the cold weather upto Canada and the check engine light came on. With the low boost code and about four other codes. I have the MBRP catback exhaust. and I have the edge/ juice attitude and I had spuddering in the single digit temp. Edge said it was a software problem and they have an update for it but I don't think that is why the codes come up. Any ideas??? When the codes come up the truck loses power.

My afe tube fell off one time also on my lly, the engine was detonating funny and puffing a HHHUUUUGGGGe amount of smoke out the pipe. I took a heat gun and a peice of pipe and releived it a bit where it was hitting the bosche control box harness and the clamp area for the aftercooler tube. it fits perfect now. ANYONE WHO HAS THE ARE FOR THE LLY, CHECK YOUR STAGE 2 TUBE BEFORE SUCKING DIRT AND KILLLING YOUR ENGINE. It makes perfect sense to make sure a permanatly mounted air box and tube can flex independently from a rubber mounted motor Yes? Mine fell off and didnt throw codes for a couple thousand miles. OUCH. Pray for me fellas.

I would just like to express my appreciation for the trouble isolation info in this thread. I was messing around with the Predator today and found P0101. I wondered why.

Just walked out to the truck and :damnit1: the tube is out at the turbo end. :banghead:

Hey Fingers, never mind the PM. See! I can read! ):h
