I'm picking up my 05 2500 HD D/A today in about an 1/2 hour. Any information a first time Duramx/Allison (or any diesel for that matter) owner should know about? Planning on keeping it mostly stock for the first month or so until the new Attitude 2 and Hyperpac comes out.

Have them check the rear diff fluid level. Some have been delivered with low fluid.
Fill up at busy stations.
Try to get a free fillup with the truck.

Check tire pressure all around including spare and torque on wheel nuts. (the real ones under the junk ones) Leave it stock.

Change the spin on allison filter(dont forget the doughnut manget) and oil filter and front and rear diff fluid at 500 miles and grease the front end and check all the fluid levels again(transfer case ect). Change oil again and trans filter at 3k then go to your normal intervals. Read the owners manual. Do some reading here. Check out the DIY forum. Ask if you run into any specific Q's. I would also run a fuel supliment. Congrats

Never fuel while the station is getting a delivery. Sediment and water from condensation that normally lays on the bottom of the tank is stirred up and you can pump a load of crap into your tank. This is critical for diesels but also applies to gassers too.
