: Transgo, Copilot, Converter?
cdhd2001 02-22-2005, 10:44 AM GMC-2002-Dmax had posted an interesting idea in another post.
How about this upgrade? A good converter, Transgo, clutches, and a Copilot? Say we use OEM clutches since there is a debate as to whether upgraded clutches actually work better.
Bombs away!
lakingslayer 02-22-2005, 12:13 PM That would be nice if it works. Probably should be done with as little mileage on the tranny as possible and before stressing the stock ally with hp mods. I personally don't think anything is impervious to wear. After reading some of the posts about clutches I still haven't changed my preference on what I'm looking at doing. Until someone comes out with some reasonable proof that a particular brand of clutches actually has a reliability issue I'm not changing my future upgrade plans.
coyotekid 02-22-2005, 02:29 PM Mike L. and I have discussed doing this to my truck for my plans. I intend to run a maximum of 125 or so RWHP, so he thought the Copilot wouldn't necessarily be needed.
What do others think?
VFRRider 02-23-2005, 06:32 PM Is the transgo and CoPilot compatable? CoPilot has you drill a hole in the valvebody which has to do with keeping line pressure up. My understanding is Transgo goes about it in a different manner? At least that's what I heard..
Mike L. 02-23-2005, 06:44 PM I make the Transgo and the Copilot compatible. I am trying different tweeks between these units to see where I get. So far I like it.

blizzardplowman 02-23-2005, 07:45 PM Mike- Similar Question. I am going to do a rebuild of the Alli in my 01 with the help of a fellow member and the thoughts that I have had so far are, #1 suncoast tripplew/ trans go and oem clutches, the same but use the clutchs from suncoast, or would the tts tripple lock be a better choice? Thoughts are welcome. The truck tows heavy and plows snow, I run the edge in lvl 3 but would like to run lvl 5, I don't think that I would go larger than that, I am looking to make it strong and dependable, not something that needs work every few months. Thanks in advance.

goodrnch 02-24-2005, 01:32 AM Hey Mike,
Is there a way to get rid of the defuel flare that my trans has??? I am currently running the predator on 85hp setting. I dont tow hardly at all, Most of driving is just around town. The only time that I dont feel it is when I have no programer on it at all. Can the TransGo raise the pressure enough to make these shift good, or is the co-pilot the better option? Or is the combo of both the answer? There is quite a price difference between these two items. Droping the pan and removing the v/body to mod is not a problem for me, but I dont want to be drilling holes if I dont need to.
_nar_ 02-24-2005, 01:55 AM This was the combo I was thinking about asking about, but I didn't want mike to call me a dumbass... I was thinking since my clutches are practically new (8200 miles)it would just need the converter, transgo and just get the copilot to make the shifts quicker? Or would they be pretty quick anyway? So far it shifts nearly normal with the predator but I figured on 100 there might be more slip that the copilot could take care of.

I remember saying that at one time):h nooooo the juice set to 90 is so great 125 must be insane......then came the hot and then came the Extreme:ro)
If you make it to hucksdorphs GTG in march and have your trans by then I have a HJ you can borrow and play with to help your slide down the slippery slope.;)
On plowing........I think its kinda a non issue for me anyway. I plow in TH and plow mostly larger stuff. Converter is locked most of the time and my trans runs cool. Might try to take a spin in both to see what you like.
blizzardplowman 02-24-2005, 10:31 PM :ro) Just what I need an Excusse for more Truck stuff, the wife is rolling her eyes:lol: at me now with having 2 trucks to play with. I know the power in my 05 is not a smooth as my 01 but holly chit, when its on its on, was in the big city today and had to pull out quick with trafic, can you say s m o k e d out the whole intersection not to mention the tire spinn putting the truck sideways:eek: . Now I am talking doing the trans in both trucks and she's talking about repaint the living room, what do ya think, a hint??
dmaxalliTech 02-24-2005, 10:45 PM paint is cheap
Carbon04 02-24-2005, 11:20 PM after the test ride next week I think you will be buying a lot of paint:grd:
blizzardplowman 02-25-2005, 12:32 AM LOL-I know I am in a world of hurt- draining the cookie jar from both ends:help: Paint might be cheap but the last time I did that room it took something like 12 gallons:eek: and I don't think my back has ever been the same.
Gray Max 02-25-2005, 10:04 PM My plans are to do the tranny as soon as I get the new truck. I'm going with all ATS parts. Converter, C1 C2 C3, and Co Pilot. I'm not wanting to boost the HP more than 50 RWHP while towing, but I do want a strong tranny to hold what I do run.
