I recently purchased a 2003 Chevy LB7. The truck had 70K on it when purchased. The more I read about these engines, the more concern I have about putting injectors in it. Is there anything I can do to try and lengthen the life of my injectors? I will be putting the KD Mega Filter System on soon, and have been running a fuel additive to provide lubricity to the fuel. The other question I have is what actually fails on the injectors? Seals, check valves, etc?

extra filtration does not guarantee your injectors will last longer or shorter.

...true but a great addition since a lot of diesel stations have dirty filters at the pump. Great extra insurance in my opinion and a lot cheaper to replace then the OEM filter at $40 plus compared to $23 Napa Gold 2 micron.

Adding something like a Airdog or FASS is a great idea for added filtration and water seperation, plus air seperation! Both also add more fuel pressure and volume which can significantly help.

Why are the LB7 injectors the only duramax motors with this erosion problem?

they are the only ones with that housing / design. Others are external and a totlly different housing.

Is there any problem with the injector body? They way that I am understanding it is that it is the nozzels. I am concerned about this as I am getting close to the warranty period and if it is just the nozzels I am not going to worry as I want to send my out to extrude hone ayhow.

What is the best way to go about it then? Buy whole new injectors? My truck seems to crank a little more that I feel it should but I really don't want to pay the dealer to look at it then tell me that I don't need injectors.

you can get new injectors from ebay for $1000 - $1300

If you have a problem though, take it in before the special policy runs out - 7 years 200,000 miles.
