I thank you all for any help you guys can offer, I replaced nsbu switch and ignition switch and still get shift range inhibited and it grinds when i try to put it in park like if it wants to go to park but it stays in neutral, i can push it up an down my driveway, the grinding is between reverse and park. it wont go into any gear except 4 lo. any help greatly appreciated. I had almost forgot, i replaced the encoder also

You have a transfer case problem.

I was afraid of that. is there anyway i can disable or disconnect the transfer case to drive it about 300 miles (Houston) to my buddys repair shop ? thanks again for the advice.

is there a way ? if its a problem with the transfer case, what is the fix ? new case or what part ? please advise. thanks again for any help

We don't know if you have an electrical problem or a mechanical problem. Be nice if you had a Tech 2 and look for codes first. Could be a bad motor in which case you could pull motor and manualy put TC in 2 high and drive it home.

ill try to look for a tech 2 today. as far as the "bad motor". what motor are you talking about ? and how could i put it in 2 hi manualy? thanks again

encoder motor ? will taking out the fuse disable the transfer case ? please pardon my ignorance and im very thankful for your help

Yes the encoder motor. You need a Tech 2 to see if that is your problem or if it is a mechanical problem, if you removed encoder motor and manualy put it in 2H it will get you home if it is electrical.
