I see that alot of people are running the Predator on their trucks. I thought these devices voided any warranty on the truck?
However, I saw a dealer on the Internet advertising a 2005 2500HD Chevy w/ the Edge already on it. Today, I went to a GMC dealer in Southern Cal that had the "Hypertech" already on it....
So is it cool if THEY put it on but not if you do it yourself?

I think there will be a difference if they put it on the truck VS buying it from them with the Edge on the truck already.

OK thanks. Generally, I'm not the type that would put one of these things on because I'm the type that would screw it up...no matter how easy it is. "Murphy's Law" was thought up for people like me and I'm sure Id get my arse in sling somehow when I went in for warranty work.
I think I put this in the wrong forum as well....?

The mere fact that a "tuner-friendly" dealer installed a tuner, does not at all mean that an "anti-tuner" dealer 500 miles away will care who installed the tuner when your rig is in his shop with a smoked tranny. He may choose to be helpfull, and may choose to say the tuner voids any tuner-causable warranty... leaving it up to you to take up the battle with GM, who really is the warranting the vehicle, not the dealer.
There really are no black and white answers on this... it's really up to the dealer you find yourself at, how he's going to handle your case, and if you're not satisfied with his answer, it's your burden to get a better answer from GM, but that may not be too cool 1,000 miles from home, mid-vacation, and now you're stuck debating with a dealer who says he'll fix problem, but only as a pay job.
There's my $.02 worth... ( Now I have to go make a $.03 withdrawal from the bank to cover that)

If a dealer has added the upgrade I'd make sure if I were purchasing the vehicle that the dealer would honor the GM warranty and get it in writing. This way if GM doesn't want to honor the warranty then the dealer has to eat the cost.

Yes, make sure that the dealer will honor the warranty in writing. Remember, the dealers are individuals that sell the product and the manufacturer is the one that warranty's the product. GM will not honor any modifications that aren't approved by them, not the dealer.
This also goes for the states with lemon laws. The dealer is a middle man and is not subject to the lemon law. The lemon law falls to the manufacturer and the delaer is exempt from it. Keep this in mind as it shows that the dealership has no say about the warranty when it comes to addons.
