Does anybody know of a cleaner or coating that will protect the driveshaft? My truck is lifted so it is really noticable.

I jacked up my right rear wheel and put the trans in Neutral and with a can of Tremclad white spray paint, it is now white. It took about three or four thin coats, it looks a lot better now. PLAY SAFE!

I was under my new 08 truck and I'm not sure if my driveshaft is aluminum or what but not a spec on it. My 05 always looked like a carrot.

That is what I am looking at. I would like for it to look more natural in color. Maybe a clear coat? But it would need to be cleaned first...

POR-15 is good stuff. I painted the underside of my 1940 Dodge with it a few years ago, it still looks great.

mine also looked like a carrot, so I sanded it down wiped it good with lacquer thinner masked off the factory decals and shot it black. Looks much better and easier to keep clean. It originally was natural metal look but they don't stay that way for long. You can use a natural color paint and clear it if you show it much. Is funny because I detail my rear end thank God it wasn't all rusty looking but I can't stand to see a nice clean truck with a pumpkin that looks like crap.

I used the POR-15. That is good stuff!!!! Since then, I have also used it to do the frame of my snowmobile trailer. Looks good there too.

I bought my 08 a couple months ago and when I changed my fluids, I installed a MagHytec rear diff cover and a Allison deep pan. I hate oil leaks and rust and I had one of the two, rust! I used emery paper and sanded the rust off the u-joint ends on the rear drive shaft and sanded the rust off the whole front drive shaft. I shot it with the Rustoleum Hammered silver/grey paint. I used the same paint on my 04 Excursion driveshafts and it still looked great when I gave it back to Ford five years later. On the rear end I shot it with black satin Rustoleum and it matched the MagHytec pretty good. The biggest pain was masking everything off but it looks good now.

I'll be doing the front diff shaft tubes and axles when I muster up the energy. I was going to do it when I installed the Cognito arms but it would have been a ton more work.
