Anyone know anything about the old E series 1.5hp,3hp,and 6hp motors? Interested in finding out where I could sell one and what they are worth and what they were used for?

I'll come and pick it up for scrap :D

I'd guess your talking about the old hit-miss engines.

I saw one a couple of years ago at the Tri State swap meet here in Denver. IIRC he wanted around 400 for it which was a bit more than I had to spend at the time. I don't know if he ever sold it. I have been looking for a JD engine to go along with my binder LB pump jack motor that pumped water on our farm west of Sidney for 40 years.

I may want to part with this one. I just figured if it was worth something I'd sell it.

Go to http://www.enginads.com and look around the classifieds. Depends on the condition and whether it's running or not. I sold a barn fresh one two years ago that hadn't been run in years. The buyer cleaned the fuel line and magneto and had it running within 30 minutes of unloading it. I think I got $650 for it. I watched two in similar shape sell at a local auction last fall for $900. $750 seems to be about the median price for a running 1.5hp Deere, with ones in "showroom" condition bringing about $1200.

Due to the cost of diesel fuel, it's not worth it for me to drive out there and get it even for scrap price.:(

Kyle I was at a sale not to far from me that had a bunch off those engine off various makes. Between $200.00 an $400 bought most off them. Depending on the year an make. Dont underestimate the value off those motors. They could be worth more then you think. They powered old pumpjacks when the windmills wouldnt turn. Even old wringer washers. They have quite a history. Good luck an hope you can get some good prices for yours.
