I have a 2005 Duramax Extended Cab Short Bed and my problem is that with the factory 245's on the truck I only have about 1' inch of clearance between the extended pin box base and the bed rails when making really sharp turns, I have one more notch that i can move up on the 5th wheel hitch saddle so that will help a little but i wan to run 305/55/20 tires and I was wondering what could be done.. My trucks brand new and sits really high i the rear i was wondering if i increase the overall diameter of the tire by 2.75 inches and I put on a 3' inch rear lowering shackle kit, do you think I will be o.k.

I dont want to flip the axles on my 5ver, 32ft carriage with 3 slides, and 8ft inside ceilings, high unit over-all. Just was hoping someone could tell me if the drop shackle idea would work.. Like i said i probably tow this unit 5-6 times a year max.

Take the box off and buy a steel or alum flatbed body with stake pockets then make real nice side boards that give you the right clearance? Could make your truck look real sharp and one of a kind or start a new trend in pick-ups. This is what I have done with my truck.

You might by a new hitch my hitch can be adjusted up about 6-8inches to add clearance my be a cheaper option than a new bed.
