After going through all the diagnostics for the PMD I replaced it and added a cooler mounted in the grill. The truck still salled and would not restart after reaching oprerating temprature. So, it must be the I.P. Bought a rebuilt. Started to remove the intake minifold and one by one found the the bolts were bearly hand tight!

I do not have the service history on this vehicle although I did put several thousand trouble free miles on it. I assume that the pump may have been previously replaced and the bolts not correctly sequenc ed or tightened. I am half tempted to just torque it down and see what happens. Although with a rebuilt in hand I might as well go all the way.

Has anyone seen this before?

Check your Lift Pump (LP) and Oil Pressure Switch (OPS) first before changing the IP. There are a few people here who has that problem and the OPS turns out to be the problem. $70 vs. $1500.

This is where having a fuel pressure gauge mounted in the cab is great. I can see the pump going bad and replace it before it fails. My new Heath pump is doing well, usually no lower than 3 psi. 6psi at cruise.

It would be helpful if we all knew what make, model, and year vehicle. Theres also a questzionaire at the top of the forum you could fill out to the best of your knowledge as to help us help you.

Personally, I'd tighten all the loose bolts and do a lil' mo' troubleshooting before I started throwing $1000.00 hail Mary's at it, but thats just me. Im too poor to be given away my monies to Ms Diagnosis...
