I use the Prodigy P3 and love it. It shouldn't be considered the "best" brake controller available as there are others that are over and above the P3 such as Brakesmart where it physically taps into your brake system. However if you factor in cost and ease of install, the P3 has to be considered "one" of the best.

Best for the Money: Prodigy P3
Best for ANY Money: Brakesmart

I have the Prodigy. Its mounted on the kneepanel tucked up tight to my center console.

P3 is Tekonsha's latest in the "prodigy" style. They are having good sale prices on the Tekonsha Prodigy's (non-P3) models at many online sites for trailer/truck accessories. I got my prodigy with the plug and play style wire harness from Tekonsha shipped 3day all for less than $110.

Mounted mine to bottom of console right next to Emerg brake release handle. Space at side of center console above gas pedal was too tight for my legs. It actually is pretty much out of the way and I can glance down thru the bottom opening bwtn steering wheel spokes and see all I need to while driving/braking.

P3 is online for about $130-150 depending upon where you look

OK, I have a question first off lets see some pics of ideas where you creative guys are mounting yours. I have mine right under the dash up under the little cubby hole (no console, I have jump seat).

Second is I have the like last year model Tekonsha Prodigy controller, if I was to buy the new P3 controller would I have to change out harnesses or would the same harness I have now plug into the back of the new P3?? anyone tried it..

Now lets see some pics here is mine... Dont mind the pistols!!

Unplug at the back of the Prodigy, plug right into the P3. Uses the same metal mounting bracket also. When I installed my P3, I swapped it for the Prodigy in about 15 seconds.

Looks like you have yours in the same place mine was. The MaxBrake is there now.........which ALSO uses the same plug.

I'm very satisfied with my Prodigy, I hardly think about my trailer brakes anymore because it works so nice and smooth.

The Max Brake and Prodigy are totally different animals. While the Prodigy is a nice controller you still have to put up with negatives such a jerky slow speed stops, uncompensated high speed brake fade, and the prodigy will turn power off to the brakes if it detects any abnormalities with the braking system. With the Max Brake system you will have smooth braking at any speed (Including stop and go traffic) and it will diagnose problems with wiring, magnets or anything else the braking system can throw at it. When using the Max Brake you will immediately notice that the tow vehicle and trailer operate as a single unit in forward or reverse and at any speed. Once set it will operate the same with any trailer. http://www.maxbrake.com/

Yes I did. If youre comfortable working on the brake system, there is nothing to it.

Mount the unit, the wiring from my P3 plugged right in, drill a hole in the firewall for the master cylinder sensor wire, install the sensor, bleed the line.........took about 20 minutes.

Another vote for Max Brake, works great and no need to keep adjusting. I switched to Max Brake from a Prodigy.

???? At least the voyager is "proportional", isnt the power stop one of the dangerous timer jobs? Do yourself a favor and get a Prodigy.

no it is proportional and works well.

I have had both. The power stop in my old gasser and the Prodigy in the D/A. My vote is for Prodigy. Easily adjustable, and at the push of a switch I can boost the braking for steep downhill runs. With the power stop I was constantly sliding the adjustment for downhill when heavy and trying to get it back in the right spot after the downhill was over and I was back on flat ground. Both work well, one IMHO is easier to use and get it back to the sweet braking spot when the terrain varies.

I guess we are not talking about these?
