my truck seems to to have about 5-10 seconds of dead lag when flooring the throttle until the programmers power kicks in then its gone. Is this normal? if not what all can I do to get it to go full throttle from take-off with less lag?
thanks for many help:)

so you have 0 power for 5-10 seconds or just less power for 5-10 seconds.
your lag is probably turbo lag. only way you can get rid of that is with an upgraded turbo. you could try a boost valve. air intake maybe...
if you have to go fast try using your left foot on the brake and your right foot to throttle up a little. then just release the brake and mash on it..

The power you feel come on is the Turbo spooling up to make some boost PSI. Its normal to have a slight delay as your turbo spools up. 5-10 seconds is not normal. Are you positive it takes 5-10 seconds?
Do you have a boost guage? Whats your boost reading at 70MPH? and at full throttle moving thru the gears?

My truck does it to, just turbo lag, but my is only about 1-3 seconds after i step on it. If it's not acually 5-10 seconds try one of them Banks Bighead wastegates and tell what the results are, or if you want to go a cheaper route you can try one of PPE's boost increase valves.

it may be less than 5-10 sec it just seems that long when you want to get going

I believe the TCM on the Allison also has torque management so you wont fry the trans. It's just like on the gassers. When you stomp it, it retards things so you won't tear up stuff.

Im having the same problem and my actually is about 5 seconds before it will do anything. It is getting fuel cause it pours black smoke out of the stack but turbo will not kickin. Worst cause scenario happened this weekend at a truck pull. I hook up to the sled and tighten the chain and then hammer on the gas. Truck does nothing, just sits there, rpm's go from 600 to 800 and thats it. I have truck pulled with this same truck atleast 20 times before this and it has been fine. Any ideas, what it could be? I have the truck torn apart right now trying to figure out what it is???

Does the transsmission stay in cruising gear and take a long time to figure out what to do? Try putting it in Tow/Haul mode and see if the problem goes away. The transmission will change gears more readily and allow you to start zipping through the gears so you can accelerate. The power was there before but it was the wrong gear to do much good.
I got my doors blown off more than once by Explorers, F150s, Chevy 1/2 tons before I figured this one out. :D The truck ran hard from a stop but the tranny just didn't know what do to from a roll.

I had the truck in towhaul mode i always pull with that on. It was in towhaul mode first gear and then i just have been shifting through 2nd and 3rd myself. i am just at a complete loss for what it could be right now. I thought made throttle position sensor but???
