: Wrong Oil Filter?

I just had my 'free' oil change at my stealer, and they used a PF1812 filter. When I first changed the oil at 500 miles, I used the PF2232 as stated in the manual. Is there a problem using the 1812? My pressure seems to be okay as compared before the dealer change. Do you have any way of finding what vehicle it is supposed to be for?

Thanks for the help.

Anyone? Do I have anything to worry about with the above filter?

You sure you got the number right? I tried crossing it at a couple sites and came up blank.

Could it be a PF1218?

Regardless, I'd go and make them change it. They give filters different numbers for a reason.......................

I'm not sure if they are interchangable or not, but the 2232 costs at least $8 more than the 1218.

The pf1218 filter is for the older 6.5L, and just about any gas V8. The pf2232 is for the newer 6.6L.
A good reference can be found here: http://www.acdelco.com/html/catalog/index_list.htm

I would definately have it changed to either the proper AC Delco or Isuzu filter.

I think you're right it probably is a 1218! :o: I sometimes think I have dyslexia! I will look when I get home tonight, and then I will go back to the dealer to get it switched.

Thanks for the link, that can be pretty handy.

I'd get them to change it. These engines produce very high oil pressure and need a filter with a strong by-pass valve or the oil won't filter properly.
