I will be flushing out tranny with transynd, can I also put transynd in the transfer case?

Yep.

I would have done it to mine but the dealer that performed the flush / Transynd refill used all 5 gallons.

So I put Mobil 1 ATF in instead..

If you have the push-button 4X4, then I'd recommend against it. Auto-Trak II fluid is the only thing approved for these T-cases, and it's only made by GM. The good news is that I've heard it's not too expensive. I think it's supposed to be around $4-6 per quart.

If you have the manual transfer case, then I *THINK* any Dex III ATF is OK to use, but you'd better confirm that one.

I thought the Auto-Trak was the auto 4x4 feature on the 6.0
Didnt think the 8.1 or d-max came with that option?

I was originally told the same thing as coyotekid by my dealership, but found out that it was incorrect. The Auto-Trak fluid is to be used in vehicles with automatic four-wheel drive that typically comes with traction control systems. Even though we have push-button four-wheel drive, it does not require Auto-Trak. Dex-III ATF is what you need. I don't think that Auto-Trak would hurt anything, but it is not required. Thanks to this board and a couple of helpful techs, I figured all of this out. So, I thought I would pass it on.

I have Transynd in my transfer case.

Boilermaker is correct.

Auto-trak fluid is only needed in the automatic 4wd transfer case.

The HD's use Dex-III or equil. The auto-trak feature is not available on HD's, they will not take the troque.

We do not have the Auto Trak transfer case. There is no auto button, no decoder motors and no clutch pack in the case. Ours use push buttons and a DC motor to shift the gears. That is all the auto there is. Later! Frank

Alright, sorry about passing along bad info. I'll have to do some more investigation, because it looks like I've been misinformed somewhere along the way!

This is good to know... You guys keep me honest!

OK, after doing some research, it appears that I was indeed INCORRECT.

Here's what I am thinking now:

In any of the HD trucks, Dex III ATF is the correct fluid because the Auto-Trac feature is not available in the HD models. (This holds for push-button and manual lever-actuated T-cases.)

My owner's manual is unclear because it just says "auto transfer case," so I thought this meant push-button. If you have the round AUTO button along with 2 HI, 4 HI, and 4 LO, then the blue Auto-Trak II fluid is supposed to be the only thing you should use.

It looks like Auto-Trac II fluid would be completely fine to use in the HD truck T-cases, but it's not completely necessary like I thought before. Now that I know this, I'm probably going to use Mobil-1 full synthetic ATF like I plan to put in my Alli.

So back to the original point of this thread: YES, TRANSYND SHOULD BE JUST FINE IN YOUR T-CASE!

I did the same thing. Flushed the transfer case and put in the trac 2 fluid. Found out later that all I needed was dex3. I think I paid over $10 for a liter. I do believe that the trac 2 is a synthetic. Never did any harm.
