: Vvt Or Non Vvt
04BlackSmoker 06-15-2008, 01:16 PM Hey all, I was looking to see what you all might say for a turbo choice to
go with for my LLY.... I have been looking at many and narrowed it down to the Cheetah, GT4094, or Danville's VVT upgrade... Not sure if I should go with the VVT OR NON, thats where I need help, and some info on some of the reasons on why I should go that way??? I need some comparison in this, Im not that good with these and Im needing one asap.... Weekend Puller and Daily driver ... Thanks for all the help all...
gasuout 06-15-2008, 01:39 PM Ive been doing some research on this myself and been in a truck recently testing the 40-94 against the cheetah . If you ask me the cheetah is the hands down winner . Best overall drivability and as quick in the 1/4 . The truck ran 12.40 with 40-94 and a 12.52 in the 1/4 with cheetah . And that was just the first trip to the track with the cheetah . There is still a little more to be had with it .
I have a cheetah coming for the kodiak right now , it should be here today or tomorrow .
After riding in fire0021's truck with both set-ups , I like the cheetah best . The 40-94 is pretty bitchen and may pull a little harder 60-120 , but the cheetah and the capabilities of the vvt are just better in my opinion . No lag , and just right there at whatever speed or gear . Also when you are on it and lift and get back at it . The cheetah being vvt doesnt miss a beat .

04BlackSmoker 06-15-2008, 05:07 PM I figured the drivablity would maybe alittle better, but havent been to such of the power capabilty compare to the 4094... Also have did a little research on the cheetah and I think brayden said it is a vvt 4094??? What about Danville's turbo builds? He has a 64 and a 68 too, how would the power of those compare to the Cheetah and 4094??? Seems to me they are the same thing as the cheetah, just diff on the exhaust side.... And they are definitly priced right, just havent heard much on them... This has been a hard decision for me and I want to get one soon, but cant decide thats why I keep asking for help.... If this may help I would like to beable to hit the 600+ side....
Thanks Everyone
Stingpuller 06-15-2008, 05:07 PM If you drive your truck you can't beat the Cheetah charger. Now I just want a bigger one to make even more power:D. Jeff

04BlackSmoker 06-15-2008, 08:26 PM I drive it kinda as a daily driver, but dont drive it much cause I drive semi and Im not home during the week.... But dont have another vehicle, besides the old ladies and I cant stand driving a car, cant get her convinced in us buying a suv... I will be doing some weekend pulls not sure how many yet and alil driving hard the normal....
Thanks
gasuout 06-16-2008, 12:20 AM Its a toss up . The 40-94 is pretty wicked straight piped . Kind of obnoxious actually with alot of pure torque as it's coming up on full boost .
More like open header w/ grunt vs. stealth with more drivability

What's your budget? I didn't see efi in your signature, PPE I believe can update your tunner to work with a 4094. There is a couple of 4094s for sale too, some that are still relatively new still

The cheetah and a dsp5 switch would suit you just fine :D
Is the 4094 good for a DD and ok for towing ever now and then?

Kinda sucks to tow around 11k with it.On flat ground your fine when you start pulling a grade of 7% at 3,600 feet you have to drop to 4th and spin it to 3000 to 3200 to keep the boost in the 40 psi and that keeps the egts around 950 if not you cant get over 23 psi and your in the 1500+ egt area.Other then that its a great DD turbo.Hwy I get the 20 to 21 mpg around town 14 to 16 mpg.And thats on the lv6 on the PPE Hot+2 ET.I alos got the same MPG last year with the stock VVT going to Smokin In The Smokies.

a custom efi tune would help tht problem alot :)
ripmf666 06-17-2008, 04:56 AM lol custom everything will fix it when the motor is back up and running lol
Brayden 06-17-2008, 09:26 AM I'm a bit biased, but the Cheetah owners will tell you it's about the best option for a truck that is dual purpose.

Couldn't agree more. I farm so my truck is a work truck and tows everyday during the spring and fall. It is also my daily driver. The cheetah drives and tows great and I think we are seeing it makes just as much power. It is the only way to go for a dual purpose truck IMO.
Which turbo flows more air the 40-94 or the 70mm cheetah?
