read the manual that came with the hypertech and it shows which fuse to pull and it's location.

My question was...why would i need to pull the fuse if i have no on current subscription to Onstar, even though i do have a Onstar in this truck? It's a pain in the butt to have to get under the hood & pull the correct fuse everytime i want to change tuner settings

For what it's worth, I tried loading the Hypertech WITH the onstar fuses pulled and it wouldn't load. Went to about 55%, quite programming and told me to call Hypertech. Tried it a few more times like this, same thing. Put the fuses back in and tried it, it worked like a charm. I, too, have not activated my Onstar yet.
