I am just wondering how many miles (generally) a Ford Powerstroke can go. I am interested in buying a 12 passenger bus that has over 200k miles on it and im not certain if its a safe purchase. thank you

Maintnence is very important in a diesel. Any diesel will go 500,000 plus miles if not abused. Your real concern should be the tranny. A transmission is similar to brakes in that it destroys it self in order to do its job.

I agree, maintenance is the biggest issue, as with any engine. There have been many folks who are just getting into their first diesels with 200K and more miles on them, and have just now started adding power modifications, and the Powerstrokes are running better than ever!

As has been said 500K should be easy if maintained and not abused in my opinion. I've owned my old girl for 10 years now ('95) and shes running well at 390 rear wheel HP, and I hope to get a long life out of her. I don't run it that hard at all, but need a good tow vehicle, and that it does well.
