I'm looking at a GMC Silver Birtch SLT CC 4x4 3500 DRW and I really don't know how much it should cost? I really don't care if it's this one, a white one or another Silver one.... I just want a fair deal. Does anyone have an Idea of what the truck should cost out the door, turn key price? ....... and, is the sunroof worth it?

There is a dealer on here selling fo $200 below invoice. I buy at $500-$1000 back.

Try kellybluebook.com. You may figure invoice price incl. options. This gives you a price point to start talking from.

A while back I was looking around at some info online. I thought I was registering for the site, but was ACTUALLY registering for a quote (usually I am not so stupid believe me) :D If you go to www.newcars.com (http://www.newcars.com), and fill out some crap you will get a quote from a local dealer probably within the next day or so. You choose from a list of "preferred" dealers in your area (if there is such a thing).

So I filled out the form, and the next day had a quote of $25,000 for a brand spankin' new Z-71 Ext. cab. Sticker was $34,000, he quoted me fleet price + some other special internet discount. He said it was available only through himself or the sales manager. I thought it was a darn good deal. Maybe you should give that a go? I mean some people can walk into a dealer and talk them way down, but I am not really one of them, I did this (on accident even) and they were willing to knockoff $9,000. When I am in the market again, that's definitely what I will be doing.

You can find out the invoice price at edmunds.com. You should be able to buy at invoice minus any incentives.

Talk with the Fleet sales manager or if the have an internet rep, usually they can get more wiggle room and less "haggle". Stay away from the floor vultures, they want a piece of your pie!

Invoice less $3500 factory rebate. MSRP $45,800 Purchase $36,500. For one of the first 3500 SRW. Good deal, not smokin' but good.

MRSP looks like 50k on the truck I'm thinking about.:rolleyes: Edmunds says 40,700 roughly. Best I could do so far was about 42. It boiled down to about 46k on the "0"% plan......er, I don't think their going to get that or at least from me. I'm working with "their" money....not mine. I'm tired of being the "nice guy" when buying. It's time to "do business" and knock it out. :ro) However, if I continue to get the shaft... I'll get a Dodge just for the heck of it.:D

In my opinion you can't just rely on the price to say you got a good deal, you are also buying into the whole dealership, price is important but service is also important to me. I've heard of people driving 200 miles to save $100.00, but when they need service that $100.00 savings don't seem like that great of a deal. I buy local whenever possible dealers all pay the same for the trucks so get your best deal and offer it to your local dealer and hopefully he will be there for service if or when you might need him. Just my opinion.

I Think It Was $10k Or So Less Than Sticker Which I Think Is Good For An "in Demand" Vehicle!!

As Jeazor Says Be Careful About Where You Buy As Well As How Much You Pay!! I Bought A Suburban In Oklahoma (had To Due To A Crash) That Turned Out To Be A Lemon!! Needed To Take It Back To "selling" Dealer For Warranty Repairs And Lemon Laws In Oklahoma Are Different Than Wisconsin. Cost Me Thousands To Get Rid Of It!! Once You Drive Them They "lose Their Value" Is An Understatement!! I Had To Finance The Whole Price And Vehicles In A Pile Aren't Worth Much On A Trade. Then Try And Trade In A Vehicle Six Months Old. If You Have A Choice Be Reasonable Where You Buy, Don't Get Sc--wed, But It Costs Money To Employ People That Can Fix These Vehicles, And Supply The Equipment, Buildings, Etc. Buy As Local As You Can, Who Knows How Often You May Be Back There!

I have always bought according to "service" and not price.....but you know what, it hasn't gotten me very far. I don't think that 3,500 to 4000 dollars of difference is for "good" service. It's more like, bend over and take this! I'll pay 500 or so more to trade with the locals.....but when they really try and give me the shaft..... I get mad.:mad:
Put it this way..... since late 1999 I've bought a 3/4 ton Chevy, a 3/4 ton Suburban, an F-250 PowerStroke, a 3/4 ton Yukon XL and two Duramax diesels. Now, add a 1,000 bucks to each one of those six trucks and what does it get you? I tell you what......nothing, nothing but "less" for your trade-in and good money down the drain.

The deal I would like to have is........... Find the lowest sold loaded Dmax and keep me within 900 bucks of that price, that's what I'd like.:rant:

I called on one truck, which was at a dealership where my inlaws have bought 2 new vehicles, about $80,000 worth, and paid CASH (retired, spending my wife's inheritance it seems!) . I spoke to the salesman that worked with them over the phone and was told that he would sell me a Duramax cheap. They had a couple on their lot that I was interested in (gmbuypower.com inventory) so I drove 120 miles one-way to visit them. Well the salesman wasn't there even though I had an appointment. He had his 'sales associate' meet me and I spent three HOURS there spinning my wheels not getting anywhere near the price that I've seen others on this forum saying they were buying at.
Another dealership had a loaded 2500HD SLT with rear seat DVD, just shy of $50K MSRP. My trade was valued at payoff (just like the other dealerships...hmm) and my payments were going to be $930/month. I didn't even want to mess around with those bozos. I drove 100 miles round trip that day, and was supposed to deal with their fleet manager but I was handed off to a 'sales associate' at that dealership too. I got home and figured how they could come up with $930/month. Basically their first offer was the truck at MSRP, and no incentives! If they want to start from MSRP and think I was gonna jump on it and say 'where do I sign!' :drinking: Ya right.
I have yet to find a dealer willing to DEAL anywhere in the Houston area.
I have some more similar stories but I don't want to be a bore.

Brother you really need to try out that www.newcars.com if it doesn't come back with substantial savings you have lost nothing... no running around, no wasted fuel, wear and tear etc, not to mention dealing with the butt heads at the dealerships. I think you might be impressed with the reply you get... unless you have already tried that is.

In answer to your question abou the sunroof... I think it's worth it. It's kind of a "token" sunroof in that it's somewhat small, but I like it just the same. It opens to the outside rather than slide into the roof (I would guess so that they can also install the DVD system). The wind noise when open is tolerable, easily cancelled out by the radio.

You know what, I'm going to try it. I hope I dont' end up on someone's email spam list after entering all my info, and email address.

I have a feeling the pursuit of the 'cream of the crop' Duramax will end up just like my personal searches. They're willing to deal on the gassers because they have 'em in bulk on the dealers' lots but the DMAX trucks, they only have a handful and don't discount them much if at all.

I'll post any results here in a few days.

I have access to the employee GMBuypower site, it gives GMS price as well as MSRP...

I "built" this one for you, and I loaded it up with almost EVERYTHING (including the sunroof!), but if you wanted DVD, thats another $1295. I didn't include any dealer installed options, like tonneau covers and the like. You'll have to find out what rebates and price breaks are out there.

I have one observation: Thats an expensive truck!!!! :eek:

I get General Motors Employee Pricing on all my vehicles. Truck stickered in at $60,225.00 and had everything the previous post had minus sunroof. Non available on the lots with dark pewter interior. Now I beleive my pricing on the truck was in the $52,000 range but I'll have to check.


All Canadian pricing of course.
After converting back or forth from CAN or US funds trucks are equal in pricing for the same equipment levels.

If you still feel like digging for a better price, check out carsdirect.com. You can build your vehicle, and either speak directly to a live individual, or do most of the work via email. They will locate your vehicle and provide a hard quote. It's worth a try, if you have the time. Buddy just bought a vehicle this way, and was way below anything he was able to do on his own. It was also on an in demand vehicle. Good luck!

I have checked around in my area, in the internet, kelly etc. that gives you a baseline but NOT a truck! If you want a certain color, style, interiour... you possibly have to order one. When it comes nobody knows what incentives GM will give....
The best bet is to get one from the lot somewhere for a reasonable price and get it over with. I spend too much time searching too much headache and paid too much in the end because I wanted a certain color...

My truck is sitting at the dealer......... I think I can get it for 44 out the door.

I you can affort the 44K and you like the truck get it! Why wait and for what - to save a buck or two? There will be always somebody who will tell you I got mine much cheaper etc. - I have listend to that for too long...

I bought mine at a RV and camping Show last year in the north east for about $41,000.00 out the door. I had to buy it on site right then and there. I got a 2004 3500 with a sticker with 49,470 for 39,999 +++. Look around at those kinds of shops, but be prepared to buy that day........

Just walk into any dealer, ask for the fleet manager, In a nice way tell him/her that you want to buy a truck for $500 over his cost invoice. I tried that once and he said OK. Right there we optioned it out and he printed our his invoice! That was back in 04. He told me to wait for the 05 to come out.
Since then I found out that I knew a GM at another Chevy dealer and I was able to get my truck at cost. $41k for a 05 LLY 2500hd 4x4 LT. Every option but satelite radio.

The only thing the floor sales people are for is to tell you where the fleet manager is!!
So dress nice and go buy your truck. On the drive home, open the glove box, look at the sticker and laugh at all the money you saved!!
