In your sig it says you're in the market for a CC/SB.

Gas or diesel would be you're next choice.

Well you can't get the snow plow prep package for a 2500HD CC, SB, Duramax. You might want to pick the plow you want to run, and pick a vehical that your plow manufacturer supports.

As for which generation of Duramaxengine, I don't know if one is better than the other for plowing specifically. I can tell you the 07.5 and newer (LMM) gets terrible fuel economy due to all the emissions crap they put on. I would think an LBZ would be a great pick, if I had to choose one myself.

I used a D/A truck for plowing, and can tell you that it takes some getting used to on when the shift back and forth. The Allison will lock out the shift if you're still rolling, even just a little bit. It will come up "Range Shift Inhibited" on the screen.

As for plow package, you can just get Timbren SES for the front of the truck, and you're good to go. (SES = Suspension Enhancement System)
See TruckSpring.com They make them for the front or back of our trucks. I have them on our 08 dually to hold up to a 50' car hauler trailer.

I Would Go With Either The Lb7 Or The Lbz. Lbz Has A Bit More Power Stock But If Your Going To Do Much Modifying I Would Go With The Lb7 Block Its A Beast! But Either Or Would Work Just Fine!

im just going to get shift kit, intake, exhaust, gauges, and maybe a small chip. Is the 5 or 6 speed allison better for plowing? The only trucks I have used for plowing are powerstrokes. I know, i know...but thats all the company ran the one i worked for. The owner did have an 06 2500 duramax with a flatbed that did a good job plow, but never really got to use that truck much.

I have a 2500 HD Dmax CC SB. With a Boss V. The truck is really long. I only plow wide open lots so i dont have a problem. I know you said you dont want a reg cab, so i would go with a SB ext cab. I would go with a deisel. They have unbelievable power pushing snow. Also dont go any smaller then a 8' blade on that truck. ( or 8.5 for a dually). Most plow sites say nothing bigger then a 7.5 blade, and straight only. On a diesel Chevy/ Gmc. But as long as you crank the t bars you will be fine. I bought a 8' Boss straight blade and cranked the t bars i think 5 times. i had no problem. i also had about 6- 800 pounds of ballast ( weight) in the bed. Now i have a 8.2 Boss V. It weighs almost a 100 pounds more then the other plow. I will be adding tims to the front and i am also increasing the size of my tires from 245's to 265's. Make sure you have weight in the bed. Atleast the weight of the plow. Good luck Rich

I agree, if you're going with a truck that can handle it, get at least the 8' blade. V-plows are neat, but very heavy and more expensive, and really are not necessary for most plowing applications. I'd get an 8' straight blade for a D/A 2500 series.

'im thinking a crew cab short box lbz duramax with a 8.5' western or 8' (or is it 8'2") boss straight blade with the extra wings.

OK, that will work but remember the truck is long as it is now add 3'-4' with the plow on the front end. They all have 8' and 8'6". Boss only has the V blade in 8'2" and 9'2". They dont have the 8'6" and 9'6" v's like the other plows do.
I would go with a 8' Boss Straight blade. And if you want wings you can put them on too. Crank up the t bars a little bit and throw some weight in the bed and your good to go. That truck will really move snow.
