U.S. Marine here in IRAQ, we have a 1986 Chevy G30 hi cube van with a 6.2L automatic. We just got it from another unit, and the alternator is bad. It only has one, which is a Bosch 24v unit. This thing has a 24v starter but from what I have read everything else is stepped down to 12 volts. We cannot get another 24v alternator over here. We do have a 12v one from a 350 chevy. Is there a way to wire the starter up 24v and hook everything else up 12v? This vehicle isn't on record so we can cut and chop as needed to make it work. Any pictures or images would help out tremedously on how to hook this thing up. It runs great we are just tired of jumping it non-stop. Thanks for the help.

yup defintly checkout steel soldiers, they will help you out there, thats where ige tall my M1009 tech info LOL.
but if you happen to take a peak around and see a vehicle laid up around the depot you can likely requsition a 24v alt from it. a hmmmv, or one of the light duty trucks will work fine with a bit of creative welding you might even be able to get a alt from a duece to work for a bit LOL. but if your intent on going down to 12v then steelsoldiers has the tech stuff to get you sorted out

I am going to check out steelsoldiers and see what happens, with the tight fit in the engiine compartment we might cut out the passenger side firewall and hook up a humvee alt. Thanks for the help I will add updates as they come in.
