: LLY vs LB7

My son is test driving a Chevy 4X4 CC over the weekend. Manufacture date is July 03, which tells me it is the LB7. It seems stout enough to me, but he says it lacks the mid range torgue that my LLY has. (punching it at 20-40 mph). Is this due to the difference in the turbo? If I recall correctly, the LLY has a varible vane turbo. (I learned that on here). My knowledge is limited on diesels, but this is a great place to learn. Thanks for all the help.

Given a choice.........the LB7 is a simpler system and will make more power easier.........

I would take the LB7.............http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/exactly.gif

There is nothing wrong with the LLY..........it is just different and new..........it will catch up to the LB7 in time I am sure........

What is the price ???????

Ask one of the tech's to run the VIN in the ask the techs section.

Dirty fuel or air filter? Larger tires?

Dirty fuel or air filter? Larger tires? Entirely stock, far as we can tell. The truck is like new, owned by a local banker who buys new every year. Only 16,000 miles. Not sure about the filters, that might be something we need to look at.
