Holly Censored , i was pulling a hill in Death Valley with my 33' trailer last Thursday when from under the hood came a Boom!!! smoke and parts came flying like the engine gave up. Then the panic set in, No brakes and no steering. slammed on the E-Break and put on the flashers. My son was behind me and stoped to pick up the part that hit his truck. it was the 'Gas Accumulator'(Thats what i call it cuz i dont know yet what it is) off the brake assist housing. The housing was broke and the oil was all over the inside of the engine compartment.
Being about 375 miles from Reno and in the middle of Death Valley I collected my thoughts and cleaned my shorts and decided to try to drive it. Removed the pressure line and the return line and connected them together to bypass the assist housing that was busted then added some power steering fluid to try to save the pump.
Want an adventure, drive with out the Brake/Steering Hyd assist. If you use both feet on the peddle and your trailer brakes are good it will sort of stop and give yourself about a mile to turn. I returned home and took the truck to Vacaville GMC Friday. I will come back and let ya know what they say happened next week.
I must say before my trip they changed 3 injectors so the engine did run good the hole trip.
