I am on a budget and need to know first what works well, and then what works and is cheap.
I just installed a programmer on my 04.5 dmax and it shifts weird (seems to take a long time to shift) need to know some trans upgrades.

It will shift wierd for a few hundred miles. The allison has to learn the new horsepower and torque you are putting to it.

You might also notice more engine (dieseling) noise until your temp gauge reads 180 degrees, then it quiets right down. Or at least mine does with the Powerpup.

Do a search and you'll find more reading then you ever want.

You really don't want to go "cheap" on tranny upgrades, either. Juice's idea will still set you back a grand for a good quality converter. Ask the vendors from here, and MikeL, and Eric (see post directly above)

There's an incredible amount of valuable info on here, just search for it.
