I ordered my truck back in early December. GM had a $2000 rebate for the truck I ordered. Now I finally got It 2 days ago and the new rebates are only a $1000. Am I not entitled to the $2000 rebate? After all I ordered the truck thinking Great, I'll get a good chunk money for some mods I want to do. Am I out of line or should I pursue this for the extra grand?

Rebates ar good when the vehicle is delivered to you not when you order it........

You get what they are offering now............

The incentives are designed to move vehicles off of the dealer lots. When you want to order a vehicle, you take the chance on what is available when you take delivery.

Just tell the dealer to take off another $1000. I'm not kidding. They have $500 certificates in their back pockets just for such an occasion. I know... I just had them use certificates for me two months ago because I insisted on $1000 more off.

And this vehicle already had $6500 rebate. (2004 Buick Rainier)

Are the rebates taken off before taxes or after? I went in Saturday and ordered a new truck. The salesman wanted to take off any rebates offered by GM after taxes, so accordingly, I'll have to pay taxes on $5,000 ($3,000 cash back + $1,500 Yukon XL cash back + $500 military) additional.

Does this make sense? Sounds screwy to me...

taxes are paid on the final purchase price.

The Stealer makes the claim that since the incentives are "cash back", you get them on the back of the sale, and pay taxes on the pre-price. Why would GM do it this way???

just tell the dealer your going to pay the taxes at the license branch.
that way you pay on the final purchase price and they cant pocket the extra cash.
