2500HDING 02-19-2005, 07:43 PM Ok Has IT EVER BEEN DECIDED IF ONCE YOU UPLOAD YOUR PRED FOR THE FIRST TIME IT SAVES THAT STOCK TUNE AND DOESNT RELOAD IT EVERYTIME?
I NEED TO KNOW BECAUSE JUST GOT MY TRUCK BACK FROM DEALER AND HAVE THE 5TH GEAR LOCKOUT BUTTON AND CURRENT SOFTWARE DOWNLOADED INTO THE TCM AND PCM FOR THE ALLI. SO IF I DOWNLOAD A PERFORMANCE TUNE WILL I LOSE MY NEW PROGRAMMING? DO I NEED TO SEND MY PRED BACK TO HAVE IT CLEARED?
2500HDING 02-20-2005, 12:30 PM I hope someone can help me. Im tired of driving around with the stock tune.!!!
03LB-7dmax 02-20-2005, 12:42 PM I know that the tranny has its own computer and cannot be programmed by the predator. Thats why tranny shift pionts or anything like that can't be programmed! Its a allison thing, But if your pcm has been programmed i would call diablosport.
WanaDmxsub 02-20-2005, 01:05 PM I've never done it...but I believe that if you loaded your Factory tune back into the truck before you took it to the dealer, The predator should pick it up the updates when you reload a performance tune. But, again I have never done it...

Correct - as long as you returned it to stock you will be fine, just go thru the predator system, modify the tune, install the tune and all is well. Now, if you didnt return it to stock before taking to the dealer ( not sure why you wouldnt as that is a definite no-no ), then im not sure - you would probably have to see if the predator allows you to return it to stock and go from there and see what happens - it still wouldnt change the reflash though as that is something that the dealer programs that cant be changed by a tuner
2500HDING 02-20-2005, 06:29 PM I Did Put The Stock Tune Back In, So Your Saying That The Predator Can Indentify That The Stock Tune Is Now Different Since The Reflash And Update Its Stock Tune On The Pred? When I Download A Perf Tune.
2500HDING 02-20-2005, 07:28 PM Does Anyone Have Diablo Sports Phone Number?
BlueDMax 02-20-2005, 07:34 PM You guys mean "restore factory tune" not "stock tune", don't you? Because you can modify the "stock" tune (wheel size, max mph, etc) and load it independently form the save factory tune. And of course it the the factory tune you need to restore before taking in to the dealer for a flash.
WanaDmxsub 02-20-2005, 07:50 PM 561-908-0040 Found this on their web page.
Thanks for catching that BlueDMax, Factory Tune! I corrected my post.
NCMIC 02-20-2005, 07:56 PM yes, you need to return to factory tune before going to the dealer. it only makes sense as it captures your factory tune in the programmer before you load your tune. thus, in my thinking, setting the bar before adding the power and torque. can't just put it on stock tune, as it will show that the predator is still installed. the return to factory tune should unhook itself from the system.
2500HDING 02-20-2005, 07:56 PM Yes Restore Factory Tune!! Since I Have Already Used My Pred And Restored Factory Tune To Take It In To The Dealer For A Reflash Of The Tcm Pcm For The 5th Gear Lockout Switch I Am Worried That If I Load A Performance Tune Into The Truck That The Next Time I Restore Factory Tune I Will Get The Old Software That Was Origially Uploaded Into The Predator The First Time I Downloaded A Performance Tune. Because It S My Understanding That It Saves The Factory Tune Only Once ,,, The First Time You Use It.............so What To Do ??????????
McRat 02-20-2005, 08:23 PM The first thing the Predator will do is to copy the ECM info from your truck into the Predator unit. Whatever that info might be. If it's "new" flash, it copies it.
Yes, I've done it before and after the GM reflash.
NCMIC 02-20-2005, 08:29 PM i was under the impression that it unlocks itself from the truck once you set to factory tune. which means it must save the factory tune again. if it is that it recognizes the vin number and tells itself that it doesn't need to re-save the factory tune, then that may be an issue.
i was under the impression that once you return to factory tune, you would be able to use the programmer on another vehicle. hence the need for it to re-save the new factory tune of the new vehicle. maybe i'm wrong.
but if it is the case, then you should be able to tune another vehicle, restore it and then redo yours and save the new information.
but in my opinion, you should have to save the factory tune each and every time you restore it to factory tune before you modify it. i may try mine out to see if it saves the tune again.
Restoring the factory tune will "unlock" the predator so it could be used on another truck. When I restored my factory tune, and then re-installed the Predator 65 tune, the Predator acted like it had never seen my truck before - saved off the factory tune first, then presented the Predator tunes for down load.
NCMIC 02-21-2005, 12:08 AM well, there you go. make sure, anyone thaty is taking their truck in for service, return to factory tune and not the stock tune. this way you'll be safe with any updates from the service that you received at the dealer.
WanaDmxsub 02-21-2005, 12:54 AM LLY's ONLY
LB7's will not be unlocked!

Cummin_Stroke_this_Dmax 02-21-2005, 01:34 AM It will be fine, just install your tune. I did the same thing about a month ago and everything was fine. In fact I didn't even get out of the dealer lot before I was re-loading the Predator after the reflash. I didn't have a single problem- you shouldn't either 2500HDING!

Did your Ally have to re-learn all over again?
LLY's ONLY
LB7's will not be unlocked!Good catch!!! Thanks
Sledman: Mine 1st install of the 65 tune wasn't in long enough for the tranny to learn how to shift - so I don't know if it will have to re-learn all over again. Probably depends on how long you drive with the factory tune.
Cummin_Stroke_this_Dmax 02-21-2005, 11:33 PM Did your Ally have to re-learn all over again?
No, I put quite a few hard miles on it that day after the re-flash and after I re-programed to the 85hp setting. It felt pretty darn good to me. I assume that since they reflashed the ecm it didn't affect the tcm? But I'm not sure about that. It sure didn't seem like it had to re-learn anything.
JJs DuMax 02-23-2005, 10:51 AM This may have been covered, maybe I didn't see it. If these are software changes when the PCM's "factory tune" is reflashed, should he go onto Diablosports website and update his Predator tuner for the LLY reflash as well so his tuner has the latest patches/updates? Just a thought. JJ :)
WanaDmxsub 02-23-2005, 08:08 PM You have to send it back to them to get an update. But I don't think that there has been any updates for LLY's.
whityinfl 02-24-2005, 01:33 AM I think there is a way to download new programs with a usb cord (not provided). I am not sure if there are any updates yet. How many program updates was there for the lby predator? Anyone know?
I am happy with mine on the 85. No complaints from me so far.
WanaDmxsub 02-24-2005, 02:12 AM You can load a single custom tune from your PC. If you want all (more than one) of the tunes you have to send it back to them. BTDT
I don't know how many updates they had for the LB7. Current version is 1.11 it was released about a year ago. It was a final fix for some bugs that they needed to work out.
From what I've read, it sounds like the LLY hasn't had the early problems that the LB7 version did.
2500HDING 02-26-2005, 04:10 PM Hey I Spoke With Diablo Sport Today They Said I Have To Send The Pred Back To Them And They Will Clear The Unit So It Is Ready To Upload The New Relash Info From The Ecm. They Said Pred Will Not Know There Is New Sofware On Ecm And You Will Lose It The Next Time You Go Back To Factory Setting I Have Version 1.10b So They Will Update Pred For Me While They Have It For Free. I Have To Pay For Shipping To Them, They Pay For Returning To Me. I Am Glad I Havent Downloaded A Perf Tune .
WanaDmxsub 02-26-2005, 05:31 PM That sucks!!!
You might want to hang on to it for a little bit longer. Word is they have a "newer"(if that's a word) version due out in a couple of weeks.

Isn't that new version just for the LB7 engines??
WYOMAX 02-28-2005, 03:53 PM Kennedy had talked about testing both lly and lb7 for the new flash.
